Occupy San Diego protesters vow to remain camped out at City Hall
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2011/10/occupy-san-diego-city-hall.html

Several hundred protesters in the Occupy San Diego movement remained camped out late Saturday on the downtown plaza behind City Hall -- vowing to remain there indefinitely.

The protest is part of the nationwide uprising of anger aimed at a variety of economic and social issues, including high unemployment, greed, corruption and political paralysis.

There have been no arrests in San Diego, and police have been quick to say that the protesters are acting within their 1st Amendment rights. The march began Friday afternoon and, according to organizers, included more than 1,000 persons.

On the group's website, one organizer, Toby Benjamin, expressed satisfaction: "Congratulations, everyone! Our hard work has finally come to fruition –- the Occupation is here."

3. California is a very, very liberal state, and our state and local governments
to say nothing of our population and general economy are suffering due to the economic downturn. The bailout mostly helped New York. California banks got a share of the money, but we are not the big banking center. That's really in New York and elsewhere on the East Coast.

So our state, our cities and counties, our universities and our private companies are really hurting thanks to the excesses of the multinational corporations and Wall Street.

4. and last night in seattle the police stood under business awnings
in the rain and told the occupiers they could not sit under umbrellas (they had to stand and hold them) or plastic tarps, in other words they could remain there but not protect themselves from the weather.
i hope it kept some policemen from sleeping well after imposing such a stupid and cruel tactic.
