Column: Can't wait for Occupy Detroit
I can't wait for the menagerie of malcontents who call themselves Occupy Wall Street to arrive in Detroit and other mainstream American cities.

It will be good for real Americans to get a look at the folks President Barack Obama says represent their frustration with the condition of the country.

The protest movement that started in New York's financial district several weeks ago with a couple hundred enthusiastic and unfocused shouters has grown to a few thousand, and now is vowing to take its show on the road.

They're expected in Detroit near month's end.

Don't worry, asshole. We'll be there.

1. Lacks a "comments" section.
I sure he would LOVE some feedback.

"Taunting Jewish passerby?
Growing antisemitism?

This guy is nuts.

13. "Anti-Semite" is a common slur against critics of Wall Street.
The implication is that we are using "Wall Street" as a euphemism for "Jewish Bankers". :eyes:

2. I believe we are planning on the 21st, and I can't wait either

I am already working on what my signs should say.

Since the movement is trying to be non-political I have found this somewhat limiting but I have a couple ideas I think are pretty good.

Rough Drafts:

People Know
Right From Wrong
Corporations Know
Profit From Loss

Wall Street
Bailed Out
Main Street
Sold Out

Comments and suggestions are welcome, I plan on making them next weekend.

5. I don't think I want to go that far
Bin-Laden comparisons are only slightly less offensive than Hitler comparisons and OWS is trying to build an image I don't want to damage.

"Detroit = collateral damage of the 1%"

9. I sent the jerk an email
Saying that we are already here and that the people who will gather here as OWS will mostly be made up of Detroit residents.

Also that we can't wait either

10. Thanks, Johnny!
The news is good for sports, but that. is. it. Republican-spewing nonsense, otherwise.

12. Before I forget, let me say thank you to all the awesome peeps in Detroit!...
Free Schools, community gardens, housing take-overs, volunteer policing...

I had several friends at the US Social Forum in Detroit last year, and they all RAVED about the spirit, creativity, and resilience they saw.

Detroit, in many ways, you are our future. I salute you.
