What being gay in America is like, we get to see TV like this
http://abc.go.com/watch/2020/166626

Go to latest episode or the one on the furthest left. First 45 minutes are on Larry King case and is simply outrageous.

1. And I'm telling you that McInerney kid is going to walk or get a slap on the wrist punishment
The jury hung the first time. His defense is already playing the victim card (as in McInerney is the real "victim) and King somehow was "asking for it". If the jury hangs again, I think the prosecution may just give up.

Just watch.

...yet when a straight kid murders a gay kid who asked to be his valentine- with plenty of witnesses & premeditated...we get this

fuck this America

We constantly get this double standard. The gay panic defense is praised by so many in the straight world. This is what we get....time and again. It never ends.

shooter dropped the gun and walked out of the room. The fact that the teacher took the rest of the students into a locked room and left the gay kid alone in the room set off my bullshit meter. See who they care about? The straight kids only.

I shall be awaiting my full fledged flaming by the pro "gay panic" apologists of DU now. I know they'll be here in 3....2....1....and they are legion on DU....and bulletproof.

10. There is a hypothetical people should think about here
Imagine that this McInerney kid had offed a pretty, blonde, white, heterosexual cheerleader.

I predict he'd already be in jail for life, if not on death row by now.

11. Not to mention
Three's Company still runs on TV Land..... as well as Friends and Seinfeld on any number of networks. It has not yet become unacceptable to ridicule gay people for who they are.
People dismiss it as "political correctness" when it's actually just ordinary good manners and common courtesy treat people with respect.

21. Ross's ex wife was a lesbian
There were a lot of jokes at her expense. Chandler's dad was a "drag queen." There were lots of jokes about her.
There were a lot of derisive jokes suggesting Chandler was gay.

I think the LGBT characters were there to create an atmosphere for humor. I didn't realize it at the time, but after watching a few reruns, I find it disrespectful and obnoxious.

24. This is what should not be ignored or dismissed
"It has not yet become unacceptable to ridicule gay people for who they are.

Media influences contribute to the general willingness to justify and accept the hate and anger directed towards people who just want to be themselves

31. Could be.
I don't know how many people get their views from Three's Company, not matter how menacing the show may be.

Still, if you don't like something, don't watch it. That's your choice. Commercial programming always has been and always will be about the market, as it should be.

Friends isn't going anywhere. You'll just have to turn it off.

13. Don't need to watch--- Elizabeth "It was Matthew's Fault" Varga's face showed up.
That seeyounexttuesday had the unmitigated gall to run a show of 20/20 in where the killers of Matthew were allowed to put forth their twisted "drug deal gone bad" spin after the fact.

May any child she has the unfortunate fate to give birth to come out sideways.

18. the whole show was a pity party for the fucking murderer!!!
God, I could puke!

And I'm pissed as hell at the prosecutor for going for a hate crime of white supremacy. WTF??? It was so obviously a hate crime because Larry was GAY! The murdering little shit was known to hate gayness, bullied other kids he believed were gay, made derogatory gay slurs, etc. WTF is with the white supremacy horseshit???

I'm revolted by the SIX jury members wearing their "Save Brandon" bracelets crying the blues for the poor troubled little boy that WITH PREMEDITATION FUCKING SHOT A CLASSMATE POINT BLANK IN THE HEAD TWICE IN THE MIDDLE OF CLASS BECAUSE HIS CLASSMATE WAS GAY!!!

God all-fucking-mighty!

22. I can't figure out how they couldn't get it the first time
The kid committed a heinous premeditated hate crime by point blank shooting a classmate in the head twice right in the middle of class. How the fuck could the prosecution fucked up so badly that they couldn't get a conviction??? There's no question he's guilty. There's no question it was premeditated. There's no question he did because the kid was gay (equals a hate crime). There's no question he was old enough at the time to be tried as an adult.

What, did the prosecutor not screen the jury on whether or not they would be willing to convict the kid as an adult??? That sure seemed to be the single issue that resulted in the mistrial. How the hell did so many of the jurors get on the panel that had a problem with him being tried as a adult???

This case should have been a slam dunk.

Dammit, I am so fucking disgusted with 20/20 making the show a pity party for that "poor troubled harassed by the victim" fucking murderous puke, and it doesn't matter a damn that he's a teenager! He sure as shit was no toddler that didn't know exactly what he was doing and the consequences. I'm so damn sick of people treating teenagers like they're thumb-sucking babies without a clue of anything. Anymore people don't seem to grow up in this country until they're far into their 30's and it's easy to see why.

UGH!!!

25. I didn't understand that part of it either.
Either they do not know how to actually decide which hate crimes to prosecute for, or they blew it on purpose. It seems everyone in that entire town is part of that pity party for the murderer. Even the teacher was for the murderer. There is something sick as hell about that entire bunch of people there.

29. That's the problem with hate crimes...
It is this nebulous, undefined "bad thing"

If I hit a guy in the head with a pickaxe because he owes me money or because he's got a certain skin pigmentation.... he is just as dead.

27. I tried to watch it, but it doesn't play if yr outside the US...
I hadn't heard of this murder before, so I went and did some googling and had a similar reaction to yrs when I read about it. They've turned the murderer into a victim, and it's so easy to work out what the 'inappropriate' behaviour was. It was being gay. And one article included in it's claim of bullying that the murdered boy wore high heels in front of the murderer.

I'm disgusted that a gay murder victim is being put on trial because he was gay. The comments I read from one of the jurors about the murderer being a victim of bullying was just so sick.
