Is Michael Moore a prophet?
I mean, his entire movie was basically calling for us to do what people are doing right now. He's just a couple years ahead of the game. Prophet-worthy? I'll say so! My girlfriend put the idea in my head...

1. I've always considered him a hero.
Never really thought of him as a prophet, but I guess anything's possible.

I do love Michael Moore.

27. Too few acknowledge him or give him the credit he deserves. Kudos!
Edited on Sun Oct-09-11 07:27 PM by October
His first documentary was 1989...

and so many people discount his influence because of his looks, size, and/or personality.

I accept him as is and feel his films/documentaries are very important.

Corrected subject line on edit.

4. Three or four years ago I told my mother this was coming
she did not believe it. All the markers for this were there. I even posted back then that this was coming... MM is a student of history as well... to anybody who knows the real deal it was obvious as far as 2003.

6. Even in the mid nineties if you research the case of Brooksley Born...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brooksley_Born

She's the first person to call attention to the seriousness derivatives and was completely shrugged off as a loon.

8. Oh absolutely... there was a group of people who
saw it comming and were dismissed as loons... I include myself in that list because that happened to me here, quite a bit. Still does incidentally. That list is short and of course it includes michael moore, and a few others who are students of history.

12. I would like to pay tribute to Laverne from Monroe, WI
He and his wife Linda have been frequent callers to Wisconsin Public Radio's programs, and for many years he has been talking about derivatives every chance he got. Thank you, Monroe. You were ahead of your time.

17. That's interesting since when I argued many times with you that the bailouts...
were not Keynesian and that they would lead to sovereign risk and political instability, you told me the bailouts were necessary and would lead to recovery.

5. Was Steve Jobs?
Tesla?

While I always appreciate Michael Moore's efforts (especially in that I am not willing to be as obnoxious as he can be), I think it's that he's been able to successfully co-opt the new media as it has been emerging, tailoring time-honored activist actions to entertain, educate, and motivate viewers. He has a track record of getting things done about the topics he holds dear, so when he shows up, other folks want to know what he's planning. His appearance always has the side effect of legitimizing the action (and also garnering an equivalent ratio of lifelong enemies to its cause--some folks hate MM as much as others love him, and therefore automatically hate whatever he touches).

But I wouldn't call him a prophet. I'm sure that a lot of us have an idea of what's coming.

10. You think he's obnoxious? You don't know obnoxious.
What is obnoxious about him??? He is always polite to people. Even when talking about people who try to kill him. Yes, he gets lots of death threats for telling the truth.

He does not call people names, unlike Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly. They do not deserve to be called journalists. They have no facts, just ad hominem name calling.

You tell me, when has he been obnoxious????? I wanna know.

:wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

28. This.
Prophecy implies something supernatural going on. That's not the case here. All the signs were there indicating something like this was coming, for someone with the perspicacity and intelligence to see. Moore is such a person.

Moore would be happy to have that buffet named after him, especially if it was open and free for the millions of Americans that go to bed hungry each night across our country.

this was going. Many others could too but they were ridiculed into silence by the propaganda press and radio talk hosts. Fortunately Michael wouldn't let them shut him up.

But "Here Comes Trouble" had me riveted, laughing out loud and occasionally shedding a couple of manly tears. It's his best yet.
