Major League Baseball Prevented Another 9/11, Says Value Voters Speaker
Bryan Fischer of the conservative Christian group the American Family Association floated an interesting theory about why there hasn't been a "Muslim attack" since Sept. 11 during his speech before the Values Voter Summit on Saturday.

"By God's blessing, we have not been hit by a Muslim attack since 9/11," Fischer said. "I suggest that in part, we have Major League Baseball to thank. You remember that the week after 9/11 Major League Baseball converted the seventh inning stretch from the singing of 'Take Me Out To The Ballgame' to the singing of 'God Bless America.'"

"Now 'God Bless America' is not just a song, it is a prayer. When we sing that we are inviting God to bless America, to stand beside her and to guide her through the night with a light from above," Fischer said.

"So for one brief, shining moment every night, Major League Baseball has converted our stadiums into cathedrals in which tens of thousands of ordinary Americans lift their hearts and voices as one and ask God to watch over and protect the United States," Fischer said.

"Ladies and gentleman, I think that those prayers have been heard and they have been answered," Fischer said.

18. Logic? Where did you get that from?
There ain't no logic there. It is someone's reality challenged fantasy. You know, your typical republican.

It would seem to me, that would invite another attack.

To properly convey any logic in this guy's (or bigoted douchebag's) thought process would be to make one's head explode.

41. Nope, it's The Gays.
Since more states are seeing the light now and more and more Gay people can get married, DADT is going the way of the Dodo with DOMA soon to follow, I'd have to say That Teh Gays have forestalled any terrorist attacks on our nation, through their strength of will and fortitude.

I want the AFA to send each and every Gay person in this country a certified letter thanking them for their service to our nation.

Along with two tickets to the baseball playoff game of their choice.

There are a lot of people out there, you can't spend more than the first thirty seconds with them, and you know their religious persuasion. They make sure they make reference to their invisible sky-father as quickly as possible.

When they get in a group of the like-minded, they always try to outdo each other for the prize of "Most Pious". I guaran-damn-tee you he got an awful lot of amens to that. It will just reinforce him for his next really stupid observation.

Okay, crazy, right? Stay with me here.

all the people who had and were raising iguanas all prayed really hard so another "9/11" wouldn't happen. So I thank them.

:banghead:

I also have this great anti-tiger rock. I have carried it all my life and have never been attacked by a tiger. Regardless of the fact that I have never been in an area inhabited by wild tigers. That's besides the point. I haven't been attacked!!!

24. Fischer probably thinks Harry Caray brought 9/11 on us.
Every time Caray said, "Holy Cow!" it was an intercession to Vishnu, a false god.

This angered the real Sky Daddy into sending crazed Saudis to attack us.

Anything else is pretentious claptrap. I instantly tune away from any game at which they televise the singing of GBA. The national anthem before the game is more than sufficient.

And the kook referenced in the OP needs Thorazine. Now.

God refused to protect all the people who died because they didn't sing a ridiculous song. Or, that he would have allowed further disaster BUT for people singing this song.

Can these people be serious? The question is only party rhetorical. This is insulting and poisonous bullshit, beyond the obvious stupidity. This is in the same vein of those urban legends that "tell" of a woman who would have gotten raped in some alley except that she prayed and received a guardian angel, while another woman gets raped an hour later.

How about it being OUR turn to be insulted and offended over this stuff? It's so ironic that the fundies are the same crowd popping off about treason and insults and offense, and yet they spew more bile that fits those categories than ANYONE.

Also, I wonder if this Christian dickwad knows that God Bless America was written by Irving Berlin, who was Jewish.

38. When do they plan to demand the National Anthem be changed?
The part of the poem "The Star-Spangled Banner" that we sing does not contain one single reference to God. As a Christian Nation that's totally unacceptable, if you ask me, so you KNOW when the baggers finally seize control of the government they're going to change the Anthem to something written by a proper Christian and not that Jew Irving Berlin--hell, he doesn't even have a proper American name!

President Bachmann's first act in office will be to sign an executive order changing the National Anthem to Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA."

Which is a very minor item on the list of reasons not to vote for Michele Bachmann...and if that list gets any longer we're all going to have to buy larger forklifts to move it.

Come on he's quoting the song verbatim, almost Shatner-esque:
