EU party poopers ban party poppers and balloon blowing as unsafe

Barmy Brussels bureaucrats have introduced new legislation that puts a damper on traditional childhood toys. Simple pleasures such as blowing up balloons and blowing party poppers are now deemed unsafe by meddling party poopers.

In yet another indication that EU bureaucrats are milking the gravy train, they have now turned their attention to innocent childhood pursuits, deeming many of them too dangerous. Traditional party poppers are now classed as unsafe for under 14’s and children under eight are no longer allowed to blow up balloons without adult supervision. One handy piece of legislation is the noise limit allowed on babies rattles and other noisy items that infants like to create a din with.

New health and safety directives introduced by the EU and agreed to by the U.K. will put an end to traditional childhood games that have been enjoyed for years. Magnetic fishing games are to be banned and all teddies have to fully washable in case an infant cuddles up to something not pristinely clean. Whistles and recorders are to be banned in case children swallow any loose parts.

A spokesman for the European Commission said

“These safety standards have been agreed by the UK together with the other EU member states in order to prevent every parent's worst nightmare”

according to the Telegraph. However not all European parliamentarians agree. Paul Nuttal of the European Parliament's consumer safety committee accused the bureaucrats of being “kill joys,”
