State Sen. Frank Lasee plans this afternoon to introduce a bill that would prohibit the construction of wind turbines in Wisconsin until the state Public Service Commission receives a report on the health impacts of the turbines on people and animals.
“This bill will require the PSC to protect people and their property from being harmed by the effects of industrial wind turbines,” Lasee, R-Ledgeview, said in a press release in advance of the announcement.
Wind farms have been a controversial topic in Brown County. Proponents tout the “green” nature of wind energy, which does not burn fossil fuels or produce waste that must be sent to disposal sites. Opponents have raised concerns about environmental health issues, including potential dangers to humans’ health, and interference with bird-migration routes.
Lasee says he knows of three families who have left their homes because of illness they link to nearby wind turbines.
Sorry Senator, I need more information than "I know of" before I can take your concerns seriously. What illnesses do they suffer from and what medical documentation do you have? Are you certain their illnesses aren't caused by something else, maybe coal plants?
And since when is the GOP so interested in interfering with businesses for the sake of people's health?
