Dear Scott Walker, a picture is worth a thousand words...
Edited on Mon Oct-10-11 09:48 PM by Ellipsis
11/15/2011 - GAME ON!

Thousands who gathered at the Capitol in February signed lists in favor of recalling Gov. Scott Walker. They are likely to be contacted soon about signing formal recall petitions.

For those hoping to recall Gov. Scott Walker, the first possible trigger date, Nov. 4, is less than a month away. Although there are few overt signs that a historic gubernatorial recall effort is mounting, those most familiar with it say it's not a question of if he'll be recalled, but when.

"Recalling him is no longer up for debate," says Graeme Zielinski, spokesman with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. "Why he needs to be recalled and whether or not it will happen are questions that have been settled. Now, it's just a question of when."

Under state statutes, a recall of an elected official cannot be mounted until the person has been in office a year. Walker was inaugurated Jan. 3, which makes Nov. 4 the earliest date the 60-day petition period can begin.

Zielinski says it won't be the Democratic Party that triggers the recall effort, but United Wisconsin, one of several grass-roots organizations that has sprung up in opposition to many of Walker's policies.

1. My concern is that Walker and Repugs are stacking the deck against his recall.
He seems to be moving in the direction of fighting his own recall (I have heard). It would seem to me that he should recuse himself from anything to do with his recall, but is unlikely to do so.

5.  “You have given the governor control of the chicken coop, so to say,” Sen. Lena Taylor D-Milwaukee
Republican lawmakers signaled Tuesday that they will likely give Gov. Scott Walker authority over how recall petitions can be gathered, just as Democrats gear up to recall him next year.

The move would allow Walker to halt a policy developed by nonpartisan election officials that, at least in theory, could make it easier for groups to gather signatures to recall the governor, as well as legislators from either party.

“You have given the governor control of the chicken coop, so to say,” Sen. Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee) told Republicans.

8. All your GAB belongs to us!
THE GAB IS LIKELY to find itself squarely in the crosshairs for some time to come if a recall challenge becomes a reality. It could be a strong test of the board’s independent, nonpartisan nature.

The process also could create a classic conflict situation.

Under another law adopted during Walker’s busy first months, he was granted authority to review administrative rules and block those he doesn’t like.

So what happens if rules are drawn up with direct application to any campaign to force Walker’s recall? If rules wind up in front of Walker, what should he do? Approve it? Disapprove it? Recuse himself and hand off?

I was just kicking it.

I never knew that until I read the article.

I'm really trying to point out that Walker has made changes that most people are just not aware of... and I sure during the course of this recall it will come out. Karma man!

IF the 200,000 pledged each got four people to sign a petition, we'd have 800,000 sigs.... just sayin'.

18. I'll piss all I want, thanks. Maybe enough pissing will get the oganizers to reconsider their timing
I know I'm not the only one that feels the way I do (see the WI forum, for more examples).

Easier said than done. Each of the 4 people the 200,000 people on the list can get to sign easily are already part of the 200,000 on the list. Reaching out to get the other 340,000 signatures is going to take excessive commitment by a broad range of people. The desire and ability to make that sort of commitment during the holidays is not a realistic expectation.
