DNC Chair Rep. Wasserman Schultz Gives Props to OWS Protesters

DNC chairwoman: Occupy Wall Street embodies how ‘working people feel’

DNC Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz Fla) on Tuesday said the nationwide Occupy Wall Street protests are “symbolic of the frustration that middle class folks and working people feel that the wealthy always seem to have the wind at their backs.”

Appearing on MSNBC, Wasserman Schultz criticized Republicans for focusing on President Obama's job performance instead of developing proposals to help the middle class. She said the GOP's agenda would only “fatten the wallets of people who are already quite fortunate.”

“We understand their frustration, we applaud their activism and hopefully they’re going to help get the Republicans in Washington’s attention so we shift the Republican’s focus from just Barack Obama’s job, to everyone’s job,” she said of the protesters.

Since the Occupy Wall Street protests started Democrats have been largely supportive of the protests which many lawmakers are using to paint Republicans as out of touch with the concerns of middle-class Americans.

1. But Debbie
More important - do we have your attention? Because you have the influence to tell the DINO's they aren't getting a thin red cent of your money or support if they (to include yourself) do not consistenly vote as Democratics.

Seriously - I have a Republican Congressman - but two Democratic Senators. I'm far more concerned with Menendez and Lautenberg getting the message than I am that worthless tool Leonard Lance.

6. they really don't get that they've already failed us
. . .and that folks are increasingly losing whatever confidence they had that Congress or the WH are going to pay any attention to them. The Democratic politicians all fall back on something they've done as they defensively sidle-up to the protestors - like the WSR bill. They must realize that if they'd already made enough of an effort, folks wouldn't be taking to the streets in increasing numbers.

I'd like to hear just one admit they've screwed-up by including corporate welfare at all in their legislative responses to the economic downturn - apologize for regarding the needs of voters as a miserly afterthought in each and every legislative consideration.

8. Me too.
I see legislation concerning lowering capital gains and another tax holiday for companies that sent their jobs overseas. Whatever that Washington bubble is made of, it's made it harder for them to listen.

7. If you can't fight it, try and coopt it. Hopefully, OWS won't fall for BS from the politicians.
