Owners baffled by theft of 50-foot-long Pa. bridge
(10-07) 16:02 PDT New Castle, Pa. (AP) --

A 50-foot-long bridge in western Pennsylvania has been stolen, and its owners say they're baffled by the crime and have no idea who took it.

New Castle Development spokesman Gary Bruce said Friday that he "couldn't believe it when they told me it was gone."

A state police report says the 20-foot-wide span in North Beaver Township went missing between Sept. 27 and Wednesday.

The bridge was made out of corrugated steel and valued at about $100,000. Thieves used a blowtorch to cut it apart, presumably to sell it for scrap metal.

2. That's ambitious
Here they busted a bunch of scumbags who have been stealing copper wiring as they were stripping it out of a railroad crossing gate.

Metal theft is getting really crazy. Those commodities bubbles had better pop sooner rather than later if the hedge fund managers want to stay alive.

but I didn't know they were that tough.

funny but true story, I metal detect for a hobby and when I find gold I take it to the local jeweler or scrap gold place and they give me money, no questions asked, no i.d, no nothing.

I also recycle scrap metal and I take aluminum to the yard, they take my picture, take my i.d, write down the tag number of my truct and make me give them a thumb print to collect my $29.00
