You haven't seen many posts from me because I've been out of commission for the past two years Duppers. The sign in the main post speaks to me in a deep way. I can't afford to eat let alone afford a politician.

Our little business is hanging on by a thread. The spouse and I could only afford to pay ourselves COMBINED salaries of a little over $15,000 last year which is well below the poverty level. And I've been very sick and was hospitalized 6 times over the past four months from exposure to largely unregulated toxic pesticides, and pollution from the burning of copper cable to extract the copper -- a very toxic and illegal practice, but nobody is regulating it. My kidneys shut down from it. I've had a hard time functioning except to just stay alive and try to keep the business together somehow.

The toxic air and toxic products we're exposed to everyday is because of de-regulation by bought-and-paid for politicians. They and their rich 1% greedy owners can afford mansions in places where the air is good, and the quality of life is something I can only dream of.

Good to "hear" from you too Duppers.

Hey... I was delighted to find that the picture made it to the Greatest Page. What a happy day! :loveya:

edit to add the words "last year"

As if life couldn't kick you harder!! I was hoping you had found a safe place, health and otherwise.

I have the same chemical sensitivities as you but I'm not nearly as exposed.

I'm must go out of town but hope to PM you soon.

21. and that's the crux of it
The ones that actually work for a living will no longer look the other way while the ones who rob/coerce drive us into the ground.

"The amount that I have to reinvest in my business and feed my family is more like $600,000 of that $6.3 million," Fleming explained. "So by the time I feed my family I have, maybe, $400,000 left over to invest in new locations, upgrade my locations, buy more equipment."

Just what are they dining on that costs 2,000,000/year?

29. Even if they ate out every meal, paying $100 for breakfast and lunch -
and $500 for dinner on average, they are still only spending $252,000.00 a year on food. Or if they have a private chef they are paying very well to cook their dinners, they might be spending the $200,000 that is part of the $600,000 he has left to reinvest in his business and feed his family.
So, what happed to $5.7 million he supposedly had last year for income? Or is this revenue - it's not clear from the snippet you're providing. If it's revenue, then the $400K is not part of his income, that's an operating or development expense for his business, and his income would be $200K out of the $6.3 million revenue that his company made. So he'd only have to personally worry about the business taxes/fees/regulations, etc on the taxable portion of his $6.1 million dollars and income taxes on $200K. Which I'm sure he has loopholes galore to keep from paying more than the same amount of taxes someone making $40K is paying.

A business is not an ATM. Just because your business made $6.3 million, it doesn't mean that's what you made personally. Shareholders and operating expenses take a big chunk out of that money. If someone actually took accounting or Business Management classes, one would understand that...

Haele

37. Gold Plated Subs! Well I found this one Gold-Dusted Cheese Sandwich

Meet The Gold-Dusted Cheese Sandwich You'll Never Pay $172 For
By Chris Morran on September 14, 2010

Tired of slapping some Kraft singles on Wonder Bread? Have an extra $172 in your pocket? If so, then chef Martin Blunos has what your hankering for — The world's most expensive cheese sandwich.

While the sandwich features a drizzle of 100-year-old balsamic vinegar, slices of quail's egg, heirloom black tomato, epicure apple, fresh figs, all between slices sourdough bread sprinkled with gold dust, the main (read: priciest) ingredient is the white truffle cheddar cheese which Blunos had made specifically for the sandwich. The fromage alone will set you back over $140.

Explain yourself Blunos:

“We Brits are known to love our cheese sandwiches, and here's one that not only comes with a royal price tag but is fit for the banqueting table.

The white truffle fuses beautifully with the West Country Farmhouse Cheddar and the edible gold leaf gives it a really special look.

In fact, washed down with a bottle of Krug, what more could you want?
