"A controversy over cupcakes is heating up at UC Berkeley in California, where campus Republicans are planning to hold an affirmative action bake sale on Tuesday.

At the sale, white men will be charged $2 for a baked good, Asians will pay $1.50, Latinos $1, African-Americans 75 cents and 25 cents for Native Americans, KGO-TV reported.

Women will get a 25 cent discount.

"The pricing structure is there to bring attention, to cause people to get a little upset," Campus Republican president Shawn Lewis told the TV station. "But it's really there to cause people to think more critically about what this kind of policy would do in university admissions."

11. I am a free speech absolutist, and therefore I don't think it should be banned.

Offensive speech serves to make the speaker look bad. Do we want OWS speech to be banned? With free speech, you defend all or you defend none.

I really do not favor the government controlling speech. This does seem to be speech. We've come a long way from Brandenburg principles, haven't we?

If we are so weak and flimsy a society that we cannot tolerate such a thing, we have adopted a psychological burka that will render the next generation unfit to live in a free society.

The great era of liberalism in the US coincided with a growing respect and legal observance for freedom of speech and assembly. This is no accident, and it pains me to see speech restrictions so thoughtlessly advocated on what is supposed to be a progressive forum.

Polls are no damned good if they're being skewed in any way by people telling others to go over and flood the poll with votes from one side or another.

And I really don't see what the big deal is, anyway.

So a bunch of Teabaggers or Conservatives or Freepers skews a poll one way, then DUers go over and skew it another way, and in the end, it's just a big old poll pissing match.

Waste of time and energy.
