I have decided that instead of giving what little I can, to the Dems as a donation,...
I'm giving it to the OWS protesters.

I know my dollars will actually go to feed someone who speaks for me.

While I'll still vote for Obama, because the alternative is having an inmate from the local asylum as president and it appears as whom ever gets elected in 2012 will be slated for yet another supreme court pick, my dollars, my hard earned dollars, will go to people like me, the 99%, who are out there in all kinds of weather, all over this nation speaking for me.

I know I will be flamed for this, and this thread might be locked or deleted, but frankly, at this point, I don't care.

I now put my money were I know it will actually do some good, directly.

9. I agree. At least with the OWS, I know my money will go to good pragmatic use.
I've been down to Zucatti a few times, and it moved me to tears to see democracy in action in terms of whatever donations they get and how its being allocated. I'm also donating a clean sleeping bag that has only been used once or twice.

The democratic party can jet their candidates to luxurious locations and have its lavish fund raising events in shmancy spaces, but I know I'd feel better giving it to the OWS. It's starting to get cold out, its not like there are washing machines on the block or hotel showers available, or any of the basic comforts we all take for granted. Money sent to them would be used well.

20. that brings up an excellent question
Have they made a plan for hibernating the marches till spring (I hope). It's going to be far too cold to stay out too long.

Perhaps a smaller contingent of actual New Yorkers could keep a presence at the site and keep the momentum going but the folks from Des Moine or Miami might not be able to stay throughout the winter. The New York marchers could take turns or shifts or something...

2. .
I will vote for Obama in the general election - but not in the primary (even if his is the only name on my ballot). I'll not be donating time or resources to his campaign. And I'll not be needing a bumper sticker or yard sign. He has not been my champion. My time, efforts and resources will be focused elsewhere.

Thanks for the suggestion.

7. Unless there is another candidate there won't be
a primary. Three will be a convention.

4. I usually donate further down the ballot.
Here in northern MI is blood red on the electoral map. To win a state House seat is an uphill battle and it takes money. These candidates don't have giant war chests and they take on the often well-funded Repub. These more local candidates need our support in any way they can get it.

While not as glamorous or exciting as a big, high-profile campaign, you can still see where your money goes and nowhere is it more appreciated than these local campaigns.

5. Same here! $85 at Home Depot for OWS supplies
means a lot more than $85 to some national politician.

The wife and I agreed. No more donations to politicians until OWS is over.

8. Helping Free Speech TV would make sense
Between Amy Goodman's and Thom Hartmann's shows, they've provided extensive coverage of the OWS movement, far more than any other sources on the air.

10. You could also help local candidates. Bet there are some awesome Democrats right in your backyard
You should consider building them up to be future leaders of the party. That's what I am doing in Wisconsin. The national Democrats should learn a thing or 2 from Wisconsin Democrats.

No Obama bumber stickers, no yard signs., and certainly no donations.

I will vote for him, but only because of the alternative.

25. We don't give to politicians we give to the needy
We need to get money out of our politics and that means all of us stop giving the bastards and b's a handout. Most of our congress critters are millionaires and if not when they first become a critter they soon become one, first one way then the other and neither way is honorable. IMHO
