Chuck Todd is destroying Herman Cain on the Daily Rundown.
Cain will officially be considered a 3rd tier by this evening.

Chuck asked Cain how a 9% sales tax would operate in the state of Florida and if it would hamper demand? Cain's reply was I don't think so but I will have to check. Chuck then asked Cain to speak to criticism he spoke of in 2005 and in 2008 regarding the real estate market and the financial crash. In both examples Cain criticized democrats for "scaring the public" and in BOTH examples what the Democratic party warned of had happened just weeks after Cain's comments. Cain said that he had poor advisors.

The interview went on, when it becomes available I will post in the thread below.

By the time the interview was over Chuck looked at the camera with that gleam in the eye he gets and a small grin. Cain is toast, Chuck knows it.

1. Of course he is just like they went after Perry (not that these guys don't deserve it) but they want
to make sure that Mitt is the GOP nominee because they know he's the only one who really has a realistic chance of beating Obama.

unless chuck's turned from the dark side (like tweety), i won't listen to him. cain's 'because i'm your (god)father and i said so' routine wears thin.

7. Toadie always goes for the easy takedown
Chuckles is one of the main corporate whores at M$nbc, and he takes his cues from the elites running the place. He's not an investigative reporter. He's an overpaid talking head.

16. And that was one of the first things Todd brought up
He pointed out that people in Florida would end up paying 15% sales tax. Of course Cain had no reasonable response to that obvious fact.

23. Sadly, this kind of questioning
should be standard for journalists, not the exception. What I liked about this interview was Todd didn't get emotional or confrontational like Matthews, Sharpton, and O'Donnell do. Just give me the facts and let ME be outraged.

26. I can't even watch Lawrence O'Donnell's interviews sometimes... well, ever
I like a quiet yet persistent style. I think it makes a point more emphatically, plus it's just more informative and less hypertension-making to watch.

28. I agree
I've seen so much fake outrage on MSNBC and I find it very insulting. When Martin Bashir was new on MSNBC, he saw him quietly and decisively annihilate a politician with his questions. I had to rewind it to be sure I had really heard what I thought I heard. The best part was the look on the guy's face. It took a few seconds for him to realize what had happened - an "Aw shit" moment.

18. I'm not normally impressed with Chuck Todd
but that interview was one of the best I've ever seen on MSNBC. He was reasonable and respectful, but asked the kinds of questions a journalist should ask. I wonder how long it took for Cain to realize that he had been run over by a polite, but very big truck.

I've seen Martin Bashir do this with guests before and I was amazed at how calmly he could tear someone apart without them immediately realizing what was happening. This shouldn't be exceptional however, this is what journalists are supposed to do.

19. Any state with a sales tax this will not be popular
Pa has a 6% sales tax also. But food and clothing are exempt.

From what little I know of the plan, there are no exemptions.

That little piece of non information is pretty key.

And, for the record, I loved Bachman's quote from the debate. It's about time she actually said something funny that she meant to be funny.

hits the poor the hardest, especially on food. Cain is a heartless, soulless bastid who THINKS he's a christian.
