A Warmongers Cry: "Don't Take My Money"
Edited on Wed Oct-12-11 09:38 AM by unhappycamper
unhappycamper note: Since the ‘Pentagon’ (DoD? Gannett?) has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on Army Times, and Airforce Times, To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.
To read the article in the military's own words, you will need to click the link.

Read all about Fair Use here.

unhappycamper summary of this article: Want to save some money, eh? Here's a few suggestions for you:

1. Stop building the $40 billion dollar USS Gerald R Ford. (Rather than shelve the USS George Washington with 25 years of remaining life, put some more gas (nuclear fuel) in it.)

2. Stop this insane notion of building $243 million dollar F-35s. (Use $96 million dollar F/A-18s.)

3. Stop building $5 billion dollar Zumwalt-class destroyers. (The $1.8 billion dollar Arleigh Burke class destroyers do the same thing MUCH cheaper.)

4. Stop building $2.5 billion dollars of Littoral Combat Ships.

5. Stop the occupations. (The United States spends at least $180~$200 billion dollars to keep this shit up AND that number does NOT include 70% of NATO costs, mercenaries, the Afghan Army and warlords.)

1. Will disastrous cuts help much
to prevent the impending bankruptcy of the US when the lenders just say no more?

2. Cut the military budget by 50% every year,
dramatically raise taxes on the rich, & pass a real jobs bill. These things will help us get back on track.
