I believe that is damned near indisputable.
If so, do you, as a Democrat, think that we should let the good be the enemy of the perfect in the run-up to the election? Or if you find this to be a false dichotomy, just jump ahead to the General Election. Should we allow the good or so-so (depending on your viewpoint) to fall to the bad; or even the bad to take a back seat to the un-fucking-believably awful? I don't see any other realistic possibilities.

We all should have been pushing for good policies and a clear line not only from the astro turfed Teabaggers but Republicans in a traditional sense but instead we are supposed to be excited as the Cosby kids after good news and backslap our way onto corporate servitude under the "powerless" unitary executive.

I think we are heading to fuckload of fail either way but MAYBE Obama can serve as a four year holding action to allow us to throw off the yoke but continuing to pretend this kind of choice presents a real option is pretty damn close to insane.
We aren't going to vote our way out of this mess because we are only allowed to vote for pre-screened candidates who serve the establishment rather than the people.

and it's crap. I'm not happy with everything Obama has done, especially his stance on education, but it's a lot better than any republican will be. Some may think that Romney isn't too bad; some in Wisconsin thought that Scott Walker wasn't too bad either. Boy were they wrong! I have no doubt that Romney(if he gets the nomination), like Walker, will campaign from the center-right, and then, if elected, will drop right-wing bombs all over what's left of the middle class and the poor. I will definitely vote for Obama and all democrats.

What is your responsibility as a citizen? Is it to not allow the "perfect to be the enemy of the good"( which btw with this administration is more like the "perfect to be the enemy of the sort of barely functional") or is it your responsibility to vote for the person you think is best able to lead the country out of this mess?

I am a registered independent who has never voted for a Republican and probably never will. Shit the Democrats aren't liberal enough for me, Republicans don't stand a chance.

IMHO if all the people who claimed that they have to vote for the Democratic Nominee because it's the lesser of two evils and voting for third party is throwing your vote away, would actually vote for a third party candidate then a third party would quickly become viable.

So if I see someone I like better than Obama and I vote for him, don't blame me if Obama loses, blame yourself for allowing the better candidate to lose because he didn't have a "D" next to his/her name.
