Personal tinfoil: Iranian plot and Operation Fast and Furious

I expect to be proven wrong but this is a paranoid conspiracy theory of mine.

1. I truly think that elements of the Iranian government thought they were setting up a bombing plot in DC. It has the hallmarks of an Iranian plot, with fall guys and deniability. Why would they do this? For the last year or two there has been a series of assassinations of Iranian nuke scientists (presumably by US and Israelis, with cut-outs and deniability. I figure that Iran's government thought they would get some payback.)

2. From what I have read about Fast and Furious, there seems to be elements of the US government who has chosen sides in the narco war in Mexico, and the US is choosing the Gulf Cartel over Los Zetas. Why? Los Zetas were originally trained in the US (not the organization, the founding members). This is a loose end that must be tied up. So somebody (CIA, Justice etc) decided to arm Los Zetas rival - The Gulf Cartel, and part of the Arming was Fast and Furious, which is a "criminal" investigation that armed the Gulf Cartel and would allow the indictment of smaller fish while allowing the guns to get through.

3. Getting Iranians in bed with Los Zetas would be a good reason to bring even more US weight to bear on wiping out Los Zetas.
