1. so I guess it's -okay- because everyone else is doing it.
But but but -- Steve Jobs was supposed to be such a mensch. Too bad he didn't have the stones to just say no to GREED.

4. I love my Apple devices but I'm not thrilled about the Foxconn situation.
I realize there's a competitive issue, given all the companies on that list. But I don't have to like it.

Hell, I have an iPhone, an iPad, two HP computers (my old Acer just recently died), and there's probably a Motorola device or two lying around. And I bet they make the 2Wire modems/routers too ... I know they come from China.

Sigh.

5. sigh....
Check list for progressives who care:
Inform yourself on the horrors....... Check
Feel suitably guilty................. Check
Look for personal alternatives....... Check
Identify a personal solution......... ?????
Identify a national solution......... ?????
Identify a global solution........... ?????

Informed and guilty..... I fail to see how that helps in any way at all, but I'd surely love to hear from those with solutions....

6. I worked for a high-tech company back in 2005
We made chips for radio applications. And Foxconn was courting us for our business.

I remember one of the executives saying, "Hey, at these prices, we can't refuse their services."

Now we know WHY those prices were so low.

7. Shows how little Apple really values that "think different" philosophy they commercialize.
They gorge at the same fetid trough as the competitors they'd have you believe were soulless, uncreative monoliths. Jobs was more Barnum than Beethoven.
