MCNBC: OWS Protesters Clash with Police - 14 Arrested

"Clashes broke out between bottle-throwing demonstrators and police on horses and scooters as Occupy Wall Street protesters marched on the Stock Exchange on Friday, NBC News reported.

Police told NBC News that 14 people were arrested amid what was initially described as a celebratory march by a crowd that WNBC put at about 500 people. At least one person was injured.

Elsewhere, police in Seattle earlier confirmed that they had arrested 10 people, while in Denver authorities moved in after protesters ignored a deadline to leave."

Are they "clashing"? Maybe I don't know that word well?

clash/klaSH/
Noun:
A violent confrontation.
Verb:
Meet and come into violent conflict: "protestors clashed with police".
Synonyms:
noun. collision - conflict - impact - smash - encounter - crash
verb. collide - conflict

Hahahaha - the dictionary.com definition includes the scenario! Anyway, are protestors "violently confronting police"? Or is it the other way around?

1. police rode scooters directly at people who stopped traffic and refused to move away
Browne said one person "who claimed his foot had been run over by a scooter later ran after he was handcuffed and tried to escape," but was recaptured.

CBS New York reported also reported that a man fell and was then run over by a scooter.

And the Associated Press filed a photograph of what it said was a National Lawyers Guild observer being run over.

It was unclear whether these were separate incidents.

2. Just so we all understand
Unlimited, unaccountable, corporate cash flooding political campaigns is free speech, constitutionally protected and endorsed by no less than the Supreme Court. Persons peaceably assembling in public spaces to petition the government for redress of grievances is cause for sending in the riot squads, mass arrests, and violent suppression.

Are we all clear here?

4. ....and throwing bottles?
Peace is a mandate. In this (and all demonstrations) it is better to be beaten then to try to beat. Violence is them, we are peace.

Clear?

They have, from the start, tried to paint us as violent. Do not cooperate.

9. Indeed
I checked the pictures and the clip from the Toady Show, and despite the report of thrown bottles, I didn't see any bottles flying through the air. I did see police pushing and shoving people as well as engaging in other forms of violence and intimidation, but I didn't see any of New York's finest on the receiving end of much more than a hostile glare.

I wonder if some of the reports of protestor "violence" may be fabricated?

10. If the police are going to harass and arrest the protesters from now
on we need to listen to KO - I think he said it - ask for a jury trial and tie up the system. Stage 2 of the protest.

11. Yup, No Documentary Evidence
Of the protesters doing anything violent. Just hearsay. Plenty of documentary evidence of the police being violent.

Clearly, the Occupy mobs are in the wrong here.
