#OWS Denver...channel 4 news...live coverage...the cops moved in...
Edited on Sat Oct-15-11 08:13 PM by Buddyblazon
and as the cops began arresting people who had sat and formed a human chain around the food tent, they broke away to Two and a Half Men.

They had continuous coverage for about a half hour. As soon as it started getting ugly, they said goodbye to the correspondent and cut away.

The cops (in riot gear) had stepped back to give up some of Broadway. A few people walked out and waited. When the cops moved forward they pushed him in the back like a cross-check in hockey (though it did appear he walked out there to get arrested). They took him away as the line of police moved back forward to the curb. They stayed at the curb for 6 or 7 minutes. Then they all moved up onto the sidewalk and several targeted the food tent. People were sitting maybe 4 or 5 deep to keep them from the tent.

One man stood behind everybody and offered one of the oncoming cops some food. The police officer slapped his hand away with his baton. The guy offered him food again. The cop slapped his hand away with the baton again. This went back and fourth a half dozen times. Cop was giving him some pretty solid smacks on the hand.

And then....

they cut away!

1. K&R I'm glad this was caught on a live feed! Don't the cops realize they're
fueling the cause? Sorry, folks have to suffer under the brultality but it's going to bring out even more OWS supporters. imho

2. If that cop hadn't maced those corralled in women
the MSM might still be trying to ignore OWS. In '68, I remember a lot of "adults" changed their mind about politics after seeing Chicago cops viciously attacking everybody.

I pray we don't have to repeat Kent State too.

4. One of the biggest mistakes that cops in Chicago made in 1968 was
Edited on Mon Oct-17-11 05:20 PM by truedelphi
Busting up the camera equipment of photographers who had connections to the Playboy Magazine. (At that time, Hefner and his whole operation was housed inside Chicago, not LA.)

Those few acts of destruction by police on those people resulted in Playboy suddenly deciding that the nation was being poorly run, from the top on down, and that the war in Vietnam was a danger to everyone.

From then on, the best of the politicians, and the best of the journalists were able to report on protest movements and on the war, with more than adequate compensation from Hefner.
