A vintage photo of Mitt Romney
Edited on Sun Oct-16-11 07:54 PM by The Straight Story
A vintage photo of Mitt Romney — the Republican presidential contender, the former Massachusetts governor and Bain Capital founder — is making the rounds on the Internet. (Due to those annoying copyright rules and the fact that Bain Capital says it doesn’t own the photo, we can’t post it, but you can see it here.)

Taken in the mid-1980s, the halcyon days of private equity, the photo shows Mr. Romney and six of his fellow buyout executives hoisting wads of $10s and $20s. Two colleagues are shown putting bills in their mouths, and another two have dollars stuffed inside their shirt collars. According to the Boston Globe, who published it in its “The Making of Mitt Romney” series, the photo is an outtake from a Bain brochure.

The photo’s viral re-emergence is problematic for the Romney campaign, at a time when Wall Street is under siege from protesters angry about rising income inequality and corporate greed. The sight of Mr. Romney appearing to celebrate his wealth ostentatiously may draw questions about his carefully cultivated man-of-the-people image.

But we at DealBook had two questions: Who are the other guys in the photo? And what are they doing now?
