2. On the one hand, US manufacturing jobs have been exported, while on the other,
the influx of cheap labor from south of the border has inversely effected construction and trade wages.

In the meantime, Harvard Law graduates, Yale MBAs, MIT physicists, etc., didn't have to worry about competition from this cheap labor force and in many cases, make use of them as nannies and gardeners.

5. F.w.i.w.,
it was during Carter's presidency, prior to Reagan's election in 1980, that I noticed how far right the media had shifted since the 60's.

(I'll never forget Ted Koppel -- who's now too LIBERAL for the corporate media! -- excoriating Carter night after night on Nightline for his "failure" to free the hostages in Iran -- as if that were within Carter's control.)
