EU considering roughly 75 percent cut in funding to food aid for poor
http://news.yahoo.com/eu-considering-massive-cuts-food-aid-poor-110155873.html

The cuts, set to take effect after New Year's, would come at a time of rising unemployment and consumer food prices in many parts of Europe, as well as overall economic turmoil on the continent. The looming cuts already have raised fears among people who rely heavily on the program.

"We poor, small people, we cannot face up to this," said Rene Waltener, 41, who is unemployed and married with four children. "We sometimes have difficulties getting through the month, so a bit of milk here, a tin of cassoulet, a bit of yogurt — the kids are happy with that and it allows us to continue."

The Food for the Deprived program dates back to 1987. At first, it relied heavily on food surpluses from farms that benefited from a bloated and inefficient subsidy regime. But over time, as the farming became more efficient, food was increasingly purchased on the market to keep the program going.

3. It depends on the particular details.

One of the side effects of the Western European countries gathering cheap labor from Eastern Europe, North Africa, and Turkey over the last several decades is that there is an increasing tendency among the the better off natives to not really give a shit about social welfare issues.

4. Anything to help those Banksters.
I wonder when these clowns will all be tossed on the trash-heap of history and replaced with normal, intelligent HUMAN BEINGS. I think their time is coming.

First they crashed the world, then they tried to make the people pay for it.

Yesterday a reporter asked one of them what he thought of the worldwide protests against the economic inequalities in their countries. He actually said 'How does that concern ME'? We know, it doesn't. Which is why the people of the world have to take matters into their own hands. Maybe he should have heard what one of the protesters said when asked what they will do if their Governments continue to bail out the banks. He said, 'they don't represent us anymore. We will start our own Parliament.' I could see that happening now.

75% is starvation. I don't even think that it can be peaceful.

7. Well there it is 99% in Europe
Either lay down and die because the 1% demand it or DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

We will be next. If a thug gets elected President they will kill food stamps, social security, medicaid, etc.

So are we all going to lay down and die like good little surfs or...?

9. They must be dying for a revolution, then.
Add hunger to the already seething resentment and you get Libya.

11. This isn't a budget thing, it's an infighting thing about how the program works.
It's worse than not having the money...it's petty political stuff.
