Are republicans that stupid to think...
No republicans are on welfare, unemployment, financial aid etc.
I know of 2 republicans who are milking unemployment for all it's worth.

1. I know some myself, but on the other hand they justify it
because you know who is on welfare and food stamps.

5. I'm curious, as to those two repubs you know on UI....
what is their views regarding UI, SS, medicare, etc?

I'm only curious because it seems a lot of repukes claim this and that about the various government social programs but have no bones over taking the money.

22. So why is the guy angry?
Edited on Mon Oct-17-11 02:11 PM by Javaman
he's angry because other school districts get it?

That's very weird.

plenty of schools have tenure and merit based pay systems, but like a teacher just told me, (she doesn't have tenure), merit based pay doesn't make the children learn any better, properly funded and staffed schools are what help a child learn. A teacher can only do so much with over crowded classes and limited materials.

That's why it's completely moronic to take away funding from poor performing schools. It will only make them perform worse.

I'd hate to have that guy as a teacher. Never underestimate the power of people working against their own best interests.

7. I was sitting in the bar area of a local restaurant waiting for some take out ...
2 guys sit down to my left, and the one closest to me starts praising Sarah Palin. Wants her to run, blah, blah, blah. She'd be great, Obama sucks ... blah, blah, blah.

So then he starts telling the other guy how he's unemployed, collecting unemployment, and that its gonna run out soon. He's not sure what he's going to do ... then he starts talking about how most people who get unemployment don't deserve it like he does ... because he's always had a job and so he's earned it, but most who get it didn't earn it like he did. So on.

It took every ounce of self control for me to not say something to the dope.

It became clear that these 2 guys had not seen each other in a while ... and I could tell that the other guy was uncomfortable with the direction their conversation went. I'm pretty sure the unemployed guy was asking the other guy for some kind of help.

This was about 2 weeks ago.

9. I know a Republican with 2 million net worth who took unemployment.
Poor, poor lady. I was very close to turning her in for fraud.

I ended up just telling my Mom to tell her that I was thinking about turning her in.

15. You seem to be confusing unemployment with welfare.

Unemployment is not for the poor. It is for those who lost their jobs whether they are poor or not.

She probably would not qualify for welfare. Not so sure about food stamps. Food stamp requirements are usually a lot less restrictive than welfare.

18. People with comfortable net worth should not take unemployment as a matter of principle
Especially people who claim to hate socialism, like my Mom's friend. This happened at the peak of the Bush recession. It probably wasn't illegal, but it was unethical and hypocritical.

BTW, she never worked after she took the UI, she retired in luxury.
