KC mom admits she was drunk when her baby vanished
The mother of a baby who she says was taken from her Kansas City home in the dead of night admitted Monday that she was drunk when the girl disappeared but maintained she did nothing to harm her child.

In a tearful interview on NBC's "Today" show, Deborah Bradley said she believes she will be arrested in the disappearance of Lisa Irwin, who was 10 months old when she was reported missing in the early hours of Oct. 4.

Bradley said she had bought boxed wine and consumed "enough to be drunk" that night, but denied she did anything to hurt Lisa.

"No, no... I don't think alcohol changes a person enough to do something like that," she said.

The mother also changed a key point in her story: She initially told authorities she last checked on Lisa at 10:30 p.m., but she told NBC she actually last saw Lisa when she put her to bed at 6:40 p.m. She gave no explanation for the modified times.

9. My daughter used to go down between 6:30 and 7 when she was ten months old
My son did, also. First three or four months I'd agree with you. By ten months it is completely possible to have trained a baby for a 7 pm bed time.

That said, the story is bogus.

My babies both went down by that time. My five year old goes to bed at 7:30!

They know that mama don't play and they go down without a fuss. :)

3. Most of the time the parents are responsible when children are killed or
disappear. Sad fact, but it's true.

4. As I originally predicted, this is shaping up to be
a stressed, overworked, probably inebriated mother unintentionally killing her baby and covering it up on the fears of being seen as a 'bad mother'

8. Looks more like a drunk mother
getting some kicks with the guy with whom she bought the box o' wine while her husband (the missing child's father) is overseas on duty.

Overworked? Stressed? Found the time to cheat on daddy *and* kill the daughter. I'd say that warrants some stress. Hope she rots in the cell where she ends up.

14. I have an unfortunate feeling that those who tried so hard to give her benefit of the doubt....
those in the community who fought hard back at police suggestions that the parents were less than fully cooperative, may be headed towards a painful realization. I always hate it when it turns out that way because there will always be occasions where that benefit of the doubt is warranted. Without it from the community, innocent parents facing the worst possible event in their lives, will have pain on top of pain heaped upon them. But, in this case, it is increasingly looking like parental involvement. Truly sad....

unless it was relevant to the events of that night...

I thought at first she might be trying to 'ease the blow' of heavier revelations in the near future...

Everyone seriously needs to take a breath...we really don't know very much about this case yet. Way too soon to convict anyone. Might be wise to wait and see how this story fleshes out. Put away the pitchforks for now

26. So what? She was drunk. What's the big deal? Lots of people drink. Sometimes they get drunk. Even
parents of young children, who are like everyone else just human. It doesn't make them bad people. And it certainly doesn't make them murderers.

Drinking boxed wine while your child is asleep does not equate with killing your child. I am sure many more parents than would admit it have had something to drink after their child as in bed.

Give this poor woman a break.

Still-- if true that's a separate issue than drinking boxed wine, which seems to be what she's being crucified for.

40. ... and?
Plenty of people drink ... become inebriated ... even mothers ...even good mothers.

I have only been peripherally aware of this sad story ... but I'm not sure that the fact that a parent got liquored up while her children slept as proof of anything.
