Help us take YOUR message to the president
Edited on Mon Oct-17-11 12:28 PM by Kelvin Mace
I have posted elsewhere that Occupy Greensboro intends to send a delegation to President Obama when he comes to town tonight. The delegation will bear YOUR letters expressing YOUR concerns and YOUR stories. We are offering to act as the messengers for YOUR message. I am prepared to stand outside his hotel all night to ask for five minutes of his time to personally deliver your messages.

I am getting lots of people telling me I am dreaming if I think he'll actually meet with me. Others tell me I will be arrested.

If so, so be it.

But I NEED your letters. I'll stand in the cold, all night and risk arrest, you know, the hard work. Can I impose on some of you to take a few minutes to write a 1-2 page letter and send it to me to print out?

If so, send it to DearMrPresident@OccupyGreensboro.org

You can read our open letter at www.OccupyGreensboro.org

Those of you who remember me from the days of fighting Diebold know that I am, if nothing else, highly tenacious.

Thanks for your time!

David Allen (Not Skinner, the other one)

P.S. Deadline is 7:00PM EST

1. Please show him this
I just created my account here to try and get my message out. I don't know what I am doing so please bear with me.

I wrote a sort of open letter to America, created a simple website to post it on and then registerd a twitter account under the same name I just registered here to try and get it seen. I sent the link to about 6 people or so before Twitter suspended my account.

Here is the website http://www.obaf.org /

I am 100% honest in my motives, and I am working for or with no one at this time.

4. I think you're missing the big picture.
Think about it for a few minutes before you decide. Wall street uses lawyers to write laws that enable it corruption and to defend itself from honesty.

5. OK, keep going.....
...who passes the laws? If progressives hired lawyers to write laws and gave them to the politicians would they get passed? Why not?

The lawyers aren't the problem. It's the people who are paying them, and who are paying the pols to pass the laws they want.

Mostly it's lawyers who pass the self serving laws that enable the entire corrupt system.

but it has been co-opted by corporations and no longer functions as the watchdog.

10. The lawyers do what they're told...corporate lawyers are the scum their masters direct them to be...
YOU think about it. You can't lump the entire legal system with the corporate lawyer scum. That only helps the corporations MORE by distracting from THEIR evils and by decimating ALL legal help for the rest of us.

13. I've been thinking about it for a very long time.
Regardless of the motives, what would be wrong with limiting the compensation of lawyers to help prevent conflicts of interest?

18. Limit their PAYMASTERS first. Why let THEM off the hook for what they demand of their lawyers?
You haven't thought about it, enough. If YOU tell someone who works for you to be a scumbag for him, then YOU are the original evil. You want to tear down an entire system that also protects the poor and middle class. Tear down CORPORATIONS and their CORPORATE LAWYERS. Show some discernment and then maybe you'll have some sympathy from the left. Tear it ALL down is a RW position to enable the fascist agenda of the global fascist elite.

...Wall Street is running our energy policy, that big oil is running our energy policy and that the military industrial complex is deciding our foreign policy. Are you?

9.  I would simply ask President Obama to read McCamy Taylor's journal...
especially the last few entries. Maybe you can print out her piece, "Working Poor."

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/McCamy%20Taylor

Dear President Obama:

If you can read these entries by McCamy Taylor, which depict daily life for so many American citizens, and still want to cooperate and compromise with those who continue to try to destroy Hope, Compassion, and Integrity, you've lost part of your own humanity in the midst of the corruption that is DC.

Think back to your community organizer days and remember the passion and righteous indignation in the face of the needless suffering. Really look at the signs and the faces of those protesting in the OWS movement.

I beg of you to please make it known that there is no compromise with corruption, and we don't negotiate with terrorists. Monied interests are acting as terrorists, holding our government and our people hostage.

Please, take a stand IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that you will fight them. We're fighting in our own way, but we also demand to be heard and to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that our elected officials are fighting the same fight, representing We the People.

12. Please submit this view to the email address
with your name and and address (in case the White House wishes to respond) and I'll print it out (we will retain none of the information after they are delivered).

I can't do a cut & paste for everyone, that is why I set up a mailbox.

14. Done...
My apologies. I only intended to refer to McCamy's journal, thinking you could print some of her entries to give to him, then I ended up writing my short entreaty.

:hi:

20. If you can pass along this post to her
to give her an opportunity as well, I'd appreciate it. We have been out talking with the homeless and videotaping their stories this past weekend..

I am working on this while handling the day job, so my time is limited. I am looking at being up all night and going back to work tomorrow.

I am not complaining, since I have a job.

But my time online is scarce and I will have a lot of work at the end of the day before going to wait on the President.

15. He reads letters every day from average Americans
and their problems, I think I heard it was 10 a day. I don't imagine he is unaware, and I'm sure he hears the same thing that our McCamy Taylor has posted. It's way past time to take a stand, and if he isn't aware of it and willing to stand he is unfit for office. We should not have to beg him.

22. To the President:
Edited on Mon Oct-17-11 01:15 PM by Liberalynn
Now is your time to influence history. Stand with actual people and not the inhumane corporations. Supply side economics has never and will never work. You need to remind the public of all the times it has caused major economic collapses throughout history. This policy needs to be ended once and for all before it brings us to a final crisis that we cannot recover from.

Thanks Kelvin!
