Occupy SF needs FOOD!
Edited on Mon Oct-17-11 02:53 PM by Hell Hath No Fury
Last night, the Occupy SF was again raided by the SFPD (there are several threads that have videos of the event) and, once again, their food was taken from them.

They need some food love, DUers!

Here is a link to a local, very good pizza restaurant that delivers:

https://order.zonicordering.com/?str=north-beach-pizza-grant-san-francisco

The location of the camp is Justin Herman Plaza at The Embaracdero & Markert Streets. Please consider sending some food -- not only pizzas, but salads, pasta, and appetizers as well. And maybe not just today specifically, but randomly down the road when they will probably need it most. I can promise you thee food situation is very haphazard even on a good day.

If you are a local DUer, I am cooking for them twice a week -- if you want to come cook with me or share a recipe or donate some food goods just let me know!

On edit:

You can also give our Mayor and Chief of Police a ringy dingy and demand they lay off the protestors:

Mayor Ed Lee 554-6141
Police Chief Gascón 553-1551

2. They take their FOOD? I'm aghast. Seriously.
I'll phone in a pizza order, but it seems so small :(. Keep on cookin'! :headbang:

4. Yes, seriously.
They are already facing problems with having no way to heat/cook anything onsite -- their camping gear was during confiscated the first raid. So most of what they eat is staples kept in the kitchen area that are eaten cold. Some food (like what I do) is being prepared offsite and brought it. It is not an easy situation at all for them. :(

Thanks for stepping up! :hi:

6. I've been cooking --
on Saturday for Sunday delivery and either Tuesday or Wednesday night for next day delivery -- it's just dependent on my schedule. I've been working on stuff that doesn't need to be heated and can be served from one container. Also, stuff that is fairly complete healthwise, with fresh veggies/fruit/nuts/protein -- the next meal I am bringing is a great Italian pasta salad full of fresh veggies and some bread. I try to cook enough for 40-50 people -- that's pretty much all I can afford and manage in my small kitchen. :)

What's the area code so we can let Lee and Gascon know we think stealing people's food is really wrong?

That's my next dish! :D :hi: I'm cooking tomorrow -- when I do it looks like my kitchen exploded -- every dish/pan/bowl/utensil in the house is in use.

HHNF, do you know if anyone's tried to engage Food Not Bombs to help out here? It's not a perfect fit with their mission, but it might work out.

22. On our local Atlanta news station, WSBTV, this afternoon,
they aired a segment on food bank donations for the protesters in Woodruff Park. Why aren't other cities setting up similar food banks?
