Three men and two woman — members of the Occupy Detroit movement — were arrested this afternoon when they refused to leave the Oakland County Republican Party offices on Woodward Avenue during a demonstration.
About 100 demonstrators, chanting and carrying signs, showed up around 3:30 p.m., expressed their anger at Republicans for opposing federal legislation advocated by President Barack Obama that some estimate might create more than 11,000 jobs in Michigan.
"This is serious business," said the Rev. Charles Williams II of the King Solomon Baptist Church in Detroit, who led the group inside the small offices. "People want to work, people need jobs and the Republicans are playing games with legislation in Washington.
"This is no game."
