My son has done two tours to Iraq and is currently deployed to Afghanistan. Watching this man speak with such clarity and conviction is very familiar to me and no doubt to many others have experienced the short fuse that veterans have for people who are treated unfairly. Anyone who has been in combat has a unique perspective and sensitivity that we civilians should respect and honour. I thank him for his service.

67. Yes, he was an obvious leader and had cops in blue heading him
with real respect. It was almost funny watching the white shirts trying to get their men back under their control. I am also certain that if the cops had made a move that the protesters would have moved to protect him and all hell would have broken loose.

This young soldier is a man to be respected.

is not excused. I saw a supposed serviceman acting like an

from his heart & soul, that he had just seen cops
roughing up people, and his passion came from trying
to relate his service and the Constitution and what he
saw and experienced overseas and in NYC. He speaks for me.

that you fail to hear the rough truth he was declaring to those

Oh and as for him "sounding like a kook," have you ever been to a protest and witnessed police brutality? I have. And I can tell you that it makes your blood boil. I've had to fight back urges to rush the cops before and start beating the shit out of them.

Not everyone is an emotionless drone like you seem to be. Some people out there still get impassioned when they see injustice happening.

Yes, most of the police are under control and even have a sense of humor about it. But the ones that aren't are very aggressive. And they have guns and night sticks and we don't. You can imagine them listening to right wing radio and getting a good rage going before they show up to confront liberals who hate this country. It's a scary sight to see them running toward something, knowing that someone could be on the verge of getting beaten up.

People are angry about a WHOLE LOTTA things, and finally having a public forum to speak it. They are sick of watching this become a militarized police state with police brutality because people are voicing their opinions in a peaceful manner.

53. He's "producing" the outrage to call out the humanity of the police.
Look in the eyes of the police who are telling him to "move along". Clear hatred in some of those eyes. He's trying to break through their façade of respectability, and their fascistic rule-bound behavior. That's why he keeps harping on "there's no honor in this". The police have weapons and bullhorns, all he has, assuming he's legit, is his humanity and his voice.

You might consider whether the politeness you're requesting of protesters would make it impossible for them to do anything except knuckle under silently. Is that what you actually want?

The insane are those who shrug thier shoulders at the cop's behavior, which is completely unacceptable (and insane). There are times when raising your voice and stomping your feet is called for. This is one of them.

for. And it was not so that the police in NYC or anywhere else could take away a US citizen's freedom of speech.

I think you are mistaking the loudness of his voice (which is used to command soldiers)for being nutty. I suspect every good Sargent knows that the first order of command is to get their attention and then to keep it. That is what he did to these policemen and they recognized it.

I took an Oath that I live by. am NOT anti-NYPD. I am anti- Police Brutality. I am no longer under contract with the USMC so I do NOT have to follow military uniform regulations. I DON’T affiliate myself with ANY GROUPS or POLITICAL ORG. I affiliate myself with the AMERICAN PEOPLE that’s it. I REFUSE to affiliate with anything that SEPARATES. There is an obvious problem in the country and PEACEFUL PEOPLE should be allowed to PROTEST without Brutality.
