3. I'm actually surprised Reagan didn't do it when he granted amnesty to illegal immigrants.
Back in the 1980s, there was an outcry over lack of enforcement of immigration law and a promise that those who were allowed to stay would be followed up with efforts to prevent more from coming in illegally. The second part was never carried out because business owners in the Chamber of Commerce needed illegal immigrants to avoid paying a livable wage.

I'd actually support a border fence as a matter of common sense.

I'd just suggest moving it somewhat north so "conservatives" can enjoy living in Happy Happy Jesusland and (hopefully) leave the rest of us the hell alone.
