Marine Vet -" It's about a way-of-life"

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/10/17/marine-veteran-on-occupy-protests-this-is-our-time-to-change-greed-in-america/

Seargent Thomas describes the lack of a future and greed destroying the country. Urges other Vets to speak out and disregard the "chain of command" mentality that gets ingrained in military thought about criticizing the government. This isn't about "chain of command" this is about "a way-of-lfe"...to which I would add ...a way-of-life that has been stolen from us by forces of greed and the handmaidens of that entrenched power.

Is it any wonder our cities are falling apart? That budgets are being slashed? That cops and firefighters and teachers are losing their jobs?

This is what happens when you decimate the tax base by outsourcing the manufacturing sector in favor of a financial economy. No jobs, no tax base, no civil society.

Why is this soo hard to figure out?

on edit: the only disagreement I have with Sgt. Thomas's words to the police was the suggestion that if they wanted to kill people they should go to Iraq. Sarge, the Iraqi's didn't deserve it.

2. Sooner or later, the 1% is going to have to come to grips . . .
What they're doing (and yes, it IS what they're doing) with the suppression/stagnation of wages, looking for ever-cheaper labor, doing more and more with less and less, making education harder and more expensive to attain and making the opportunity chasm between them and the rest of the planet ever wider . . . . it's all going to eventually cave in on itself.

When that happens, if they let it happen, all the armies and hired thugs in the world aren't going to protect people like the Kochs and the Waltons.

Like it was said before . . . just ask the Bourbons and the Romanovs where an unegalitarian imperialist rule leads to.

3. You can't, for the most part. They're dead.
They died in a most unpleasant manner.

Some of those Ivy League Legacies and Trust Fund Babies should have spent some time reading history, instead of attending frat parties.

They might be a tad uncomfortable right now if they had done so.

Ignore the lessons of history at your peril, 1%er's.

4. Ahhh Historical similiarities and facts NEVER cross the mind
of Republicans or a certain percentage of the 1 percent...

Had they paid attention they would not have deregulated everything and insist on deregulating more.....

Oh well.....OWS is scaring them....but they still don't see the truth yet....

5. The 1% figure OWS will go away on its own.
Someone will throw us a bone, make a lot of promises and platitudes to kill the momentum.

They don't realize this is an all or nothing game. If OWS fails, people will become disillusioned, like they did in the 70's and it will take Decades to recover, if ever.
