Alibaba CEO Jack Ma told reporters Monday that the Chinese tech leader has compiled the $20 billion in cash reserves it believes is necessary to buy Sunnyvale tech giant Yahoo...

Ma made his interest in buying Yahoo official earlier this month at a Stanford conference, saying then, "We are very interested in Yahoo because our Alibaba Group is so important to Yahoo and Yahoo is also very important to us."

"We are talking to them, and they are talking to us," Ma added.

However, even if Yahoo and Alibaba could agree on a price, they would still have to persuade U.S. regulators to allow a Chinese-owned company to buy a high-profile American company involved in communications.
