Sometimes you get what you ask for. And sometimes yo-yo's win the general.

Everybody thought Reagan was a clown, and now he's Saint Ronnie.

And the shrub was a complete idiot, but we had 8 years from him.

(And yes, I know the shrub wasn't fairly elected, but that's the way they do it these days. Whoever is their nominee will be helped along, by whatever means is necessary. And the bigger a yo-yo, the better.)

4. This is a fair point. I remember back in 1980, I was in college, all the hooting and hollering about
how lucky the Democrats were that the GOP had nominated someone as obviously intellectually and tempermentally unfit for the presidency as Ronald Reagan. The hooting and hollering died down rather quickly on election night, however. It didn't change the fact that he was a lousy president, he was unfit for the office, but it goes to the point in your OP. Rec.
