Seal Beach Murders... Hit too close to home, literally and figuratively...

I received an email from Victoria's iPhone... generated by her son. It was the weirdest, most comforting text I've ever received and under the most bizarre of circumstances. It was a notice for her funeral service.

I'll be going to Victoria's "Celebration of a Life Well Lived" later this week. A festive spray of flowers has been ordered, donations made to The Humane Society in her name, and the price I would have paid for my appointment is going here: The "Seal Beach Victims' Fund" located at the Bank of America, 208 Main St., in Seal Beach.

On the 29th, I'm going to show up at the salon for my appointment, let VB know she's off the hook for standing me up (after a fair amount of razzing, because she'd expect nothing less). We will leave more flowers and candles, then go on a memorial pub crawl in Seal Beach.

I'm going to take up the habit of wearing bright red lipstick, and laughing like Victoria.

I'll let y'all know if I can manage to make this a yearly event. This one will be The First Annual Victoria Buzzo Seal Beach Pub Crawl... held on the last Saturday in October.

Tragedy can strike anywhere, but damn it is hard when it touches those you know. I worked with so many parents that had kids at Columbine. While they were among the "lucky," they all had friends/neighbors that lost a child or knew someone seriously injured. That was one damn difficult time.

This weekend, I will drink a :toast: to Victoria. Never met her, but she clearly was a special person...
