Is this a weird request?
I can't tell if it is or not.

My boyfriend has a coworker whose son is moving to a little town where MY coworker lives. He (my boyfriend) wanted me to give him my coworker's contact info so that this guy could ask him about housing etc. in this town. Not sure my coworker knows much about that sort of thing but I felt uncomfortable giving out this information without asking my coworker's permission first, which I have not had a chance to do. I thought it was just a weird request altogether. If someone had asked it of me, I would have refused. I don't want to talk to someone I do not know. But then I am an antisocial asshole.

2. i don't think so
it's a parent trying to ease the child's move.

but i agree with your instinct that you most definitely need to ask your coworkers permission first to see if they'd be willing. they might have another resource they could offer too tho....

4. It might be too late.
I hesitated to much and my boyfriend rescinded the request. Also I am not going to see my coworker before Saturday, in which case it is too late, as they will already be down there.

3. I wouldn't hesitate to ask your co-worker (while making it clear that you are asking
a big favor). Your co-worker is free to refuse or they might love the opportunity to help someone out.

5. If I wanted people I don't know emailing me....I'd post it online.
I wouldn't want friends to basically do the same thing with it.
I even get mad when I get an email and everyone's address (including mine) is displayed. It's rude.

6. The best way to handle that is...
ask your boyfriend for the son's info and give that to your co-worker.
