slackmaster comments:

This person is clearly off her rocker and doesn't actually represent anyone other than a radical fringe that has nothing to do with the Occupy movements, but when you try to get a large supermajority of people involved without a clear unifying message this kind of thing is unavoidable.

1. And once again we see teachers effectively denied their 1st Amendment rights
I don't agree with what this teacher said, but I do defend her right to say it without having to suffer repercussions from her job.

6. Doesn't matter what she says, she still has a right to say it, on her own time,
Without suffering repercussions for it. That also applies to the teacher who gets fired for speaking at anti-war protests as well. The right of free speech is guaranteed for most people, but has been denied time and again for teachers, why?

Do you support firing the grocer who writes hateful letters to the editor?

18. Actually not. By identifying the place of work it implies the business is in agreement
and would thus have a deleterious effect on the business, which is grounds for firing.

Simply having an employees who said it without tying to the workplace would not be grounds for firing.

27. I love the first amendment
The first doesn't guarantee you a job, just that the government cannot arrest you. There are consequences to speaking your mind. She wasn't arrested, she was fired for being a noxious person who had no business in a classroom. You seem to think anybody should be able to say whatever stupid fucking thing they want with no consequences. That's NOT what the first amendment is about.

33. I think you misunderstand the first
amendment which says nothing about being able to say what you want without penalty when it comes to employment. The government cannot arrest you and put you in a gulag for your speech. Do you really think someone who belongs to the KKK should be teaching children? Do you further think there is nothing parents of those students can do about it? Think about what you're saying....it's insane.

35. So it is OK then to fire a teacher for speaking about tolerance at an LGBT rally,
Or gets fired for speaking at an anti-war rally.

Think about what you are saying. You are, unwittingly or otherwise, conspiring with the right to deny teachers their right to free speech.

The first time he promotes racism, or acts in a racist manner, in the classroom, fire him.

We do not punish people in this country for what they think. Only for what they DO. (ideally)

45. I'm a government employee. I join protests when I can.
I say what I want to say. But I DON'T speak as a government employee. I stand to be fired if I talk to the press about ANYTHING, and speak as a government employee - that is clearly stated in my employee's handbook. Statement to the press MUST go through our PR office. So when I protest, I speak as a citizen, and I do not wear anything (hat, t-shirt, jacket) that might identify me to the public as a government employee.

I have a right to speak. I do not have the right to drag my place of employment into it. I know and accept the difference.

If I were fired for showing up at an anti-war rally, or an OWS rally, I'd fight it tooth and nail UNLESS I was dumb enough to be doing or saying something that would imply I spoke on behalf of my employer.

THAT is what the first amendment is about. You cannot be punished by the government for speaking your mind - and being fired is punishment, when you are a government employee. She broke no rules. She did not proselytize on government time. She did not identify as a government employee when she spoke. There was no grounds for firing her.

21. Yes, if that teacher were speaking outside the school, on their own time
I would support such a teacher. Just as I support teachers who get fired for speaking at LGBT rallies, or anti-war rallies and get fired for their remarks after pressure is applied by radical RW parents.

You see, the left and right in this country have essentially and effectively conspired to keep teachers silent in the public arena. If a teacher dares to speak out on an issue, somebody, somewhere will disagree with it, and if they can get enough people to join them, raise a big enough stink, they can get that teacher fired. It happens all the time.

And thus teachers have had their First Amendment rights effectively taken away.

30. And the right would say exactly the opposite,
The coming out for peace and tolerance are abominations, and work, many times very effectively, to get that teacher fired.

Thus we see the left and right, unwittingly or otherwise, effectively conspiring together to silence teachers.

Yet in no other profession can you expect that.

2. First of all, anyone that stupid and prejudiced should not be teaching children.
Secondly, I get the impression that the movement *does* have a clear unifying message; however, there will always be loonies who attach themselves to any rally or demo. I understand that some Ron Paul fans have been glomming onto some of the demos - would this person come from that group, especially given her obsession with 'the Federal Reserve'?

I'm just so sick of seeing that same fringe at every anti-war or other left-leaning gathering that I get a touch reactionary -- I want those people gone from groups of which I count myself a part.

Shit like that needs to be loudly denounced, disowned, discouraged, and shamed. It has no place in any protest that purports to represent the progressive element. But you and Madhound are correct insofar as it does not and should not warrant violence.

Mea maxima culpa. :dunce: I cede the field on that point.

there is also a consequence to that free speech if it's against socially accepted norms.

Too many people still think that what's said , is somehow exempt from blowback.

You have the right to go to your boss and call him/her an asshole, BUT that boss also has the right to demote./fire you for insubordination.

Free speech does not equal free-from-consequences speech,

43. For shits and giggles....
Go to the youtube video and read the comments section...It's the shit!

Patty says:

  • By publishing the bad traits about Jews, I am hoping that they will take a look at themselves and change their evil ways, before God comes down and destroy them. Hitler was just a sample of what will happen to the Jews if they don't change.

  • Under Hitler, if these Zionist Jewish Bankers had swindled the Germans out of millions of homes, the Germans would have destroyed the entire Jewish population. Why did America not do the same? It is not too late to do that. These Zionist Jews should release their ownership of the Federal Reserve Bank, and they should be run out of America. I stick by what I said in this video! Also, we need to vote these weak, no backbone, corrupt politicians, out of office...and NOW.

  • We must start teaching our children the Jewish history. You can get it all on the web, because the Jews don't allow their history to be printed in school books. Your children need to know about Jews. This is not to be done to stem hatred, it is to be done for protection. Just like you tell your children not to get in a car with a stranger, you must protect them from this predator. Look at all the homes they stole from Americans. They just put them out on the streets.

  • This big battle that I am taking on with the Jews did not start last week. Since I was a child, I use to hear that Hitler killed all those Jews. I use to always ask my parents and other adults why???

No one ever gave me a good answer. Not until recently did I get all the facts. I was raised in Chicago. In our community, and Jews were our merchants. They owned all the stores, they were our doctors, lawyers, etc. This was before the Arabs. So I have some history with them.

  • Over the years I have observed the Jews, and I have noticed how low-down they can be. The swindling of American's homes was the last straw for me. I am willing to lay my life down to educate the American people about who the Jewish people are. It is because of this lack of knowledge, that Americans have become vulnerable to the evil and underhanded tactics of the Jews. The Jew knows that when we educate the people, their stealing and lying will be over.

  • You should read "The Secret Relationship Between Blacks and Jews". When the Jews came to America during slavery, they went to the south. Jews owned and controlled the needle trades. They made the clothes. They also started banks in the south, and they loaned money to the slaveowners. The Jews starting making so much money, that the whites were beginning to be suspect, but the Jews decided to act more racist against the Blacks than the whites. This pleased the whites.

It was hysterical. The Negroes had an advantage in troop strength, but the Jews had much better guns.

They'd prefer to put their heads in the sand (or up their asses). I have seen "zionist bankers" used here and when it was called "anti-Semitic", it was met with howls and protests of "shrill accusations of anti-Semitism." We still deal with the dual loyalty charge all the time too.
