Child needs medical treatment? Christian Right leader wants you to make sure the doctor isn't gay
Linda Harvey of Mission America has a message for parents: don’t let your child be treated by a gay or lesbian doctor or nurse. On her radio show yesterday, Harvey said that parents should prohibit gay and lesbian health care employees from attending to their children because their sexual orientation is “erroneously influential to children.”

“There are a few homosexual doctors treating kids, there are far more nurses, LPNs, technicians and other health care workers in these lifestyles,” Harvey contends. “Should your child ever be hospitalized, you do not want your child treated or cared for by one of these members of the Children’s Hospital gay employees group.”

4. My wife's cousin's partner is a dentist.
He's absolutely great with children and has a way of helping them deal with their fear of dentists that's pretty amazing. I've been in his office while my wife was getting some work done and heard little kids giggling in the chair. Yeah, his being gay is a real detriment to his skills. You bet.

5. It must be terrible to live with that level of ignorance and fear. Even worse,
is to pass that ignorance and fear on to others.

6. If one of my loved ones needed to be hospitalized
The ONLY thing I would be concerned about is that my loved one got the very best possible care. If that isn't someone's number 1 priority, I can't imagine how they could say that the person is their "loved one"?

I mean seriously - you turn down medical help for your loved one because of political ideology or because you don't like gay people? I wouldn't turn down medical help for my loved one because it was a right winger offering it, provided they gave my loved one good care and weren't introducing ideology and discrimination into the mix (which wouldn't be the definition good care, anyway).

And you know what, Linda Harvey? There are so many good people in the Medical field that actually care about others, that they would still treat you and help you even if they are gay, despite the fact that right now you are spewing hatred at them. That's the very definition of Christianity, wouldn't you say, or is your definition of Christianity "things I believe in that aren't in the Bible and certainly aren't the message of Jesus Christ?"

7. That "leader" is filth. Just my opinion, of course.
She advises sending a letter to your child's pediatrician demanding that no gay or lesbian be allowed to tend to the child if he or she is hospitalized. The response by most pediatricians would be, "WTF?" Pediatricians don't dictate to hospitals about staffing, for pete's sake. Linda Harvey is a moron, at best, and a toxic moron, to boot.

8. And if you successfully avoid the only ER doc on duty (who happens to be gay),
you might have to figure out whether the local mortician is gay.

13. So much for "pro-life", right?

If she would turn down medical help for a loved one because the medical help is from a gay person, rather than being concerned that the loved one is getting medical help, she doesn't know the first thing about what "love" is.

We already know from this letter she doesn't know the first thing about Christianity.

15. I just noticed that part
So if the person in question wasn't a member of the Children's Hospital Employee group (whatever that is) but was gay it would still be okay

12. Linda Harvey is using double speak and obfuscating. I know some extreme right wingers
and they equate being gay with being a pedophile. Mission America is a hate group and they are lying through omission. They think health care workers will molest children. Influencing children is just one piece of their lie. These people are despicable!

Wait, Nurse! Before you hook up that IV, ARE YOU A LESBIAN???

This is just stupefying!!!!

Hey wingers: if no one else but a gay doctor or nurse is available to treat your child, DO YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO DIE? AS IN, MEET GOD FACE TO FACE BECAUSE OF YOUR STUPIDITY, RIGHT NOW???

Jesus wept.

17. That is just bucketloads of WTF
OK, I'm trying to wrap my head around this.

I bring my child to the ER with a head injury. I'm very religious. I ASK every hospital employee about his or her sexual orientation BEFORE I permit anyone to treat my child?

And I'm supposed to expect the hospital employees, doctors, and nurses, to simply answer me in the affirmative or the negative as if I were asking whether they drove a Chevy or a Toyota? Really?

If I were a doctor of either persuasion I would tell the parent that it's none of their fucking business, now let me treat the kid, or don't.

if you're gay or lesbian, would you want to be treated by a right-wing Christian doctor?

22. I have 2 words for that asshole - EARL BRADLEY - 103 victims and only one was a boy

http://articles.cnn.com/2011-06-07/justice/delaware.pediatrician.trial_1_delaware-pediatrician-earl-bradley-jury-trial?_s=PM:CRIME

Delaware pediatrician goes on trial for alleged sex abuse

<<<snip>>>

All but one of the 103 patients he is accused of abusing are girls, some as young as 2 years old. The alleged abuse occurred between 1998 and 2009, according to the indictment.

It's said the reason Beau Biden didn't want to run for his dad's open senate seat was that he wanted to finish off this trial. (Beau is our AG here in Delaware). Bradley was finally found guilty on 14 charges, he's serving about 164 years in jail and they even demolished his old doctors office.

So you tell me this, if one of the worst pedophiles in US history was a man and 102 of his 103 victims were girls - how will keeping GLBT people out of the medical industry protect us from this sort of heinous acts?

23. And male children should never be treated by women, or they will want to become women;
and female children should never be treated by men, or they will be influenced to become men.

Uh huh.
