Why? My guess is the GOP see themselves a TOUGH ON CRIME and if they let inequality, and poverty grow, while police are cut, they are in fact increasing the crime rate. Clinton increased the police by 100,000 and the crime rate went way down. This is why the GOP reacted so strongly to what Biden said. Biden pointing this out goes to the heart of the traditional GOP platform.

4. Then again, OUR party's leaders haven't been willing for years now
to seriously discuss the connection between poverty and crime. If Biden can even get that conversation restarted in THIS party, that's a good thing.

We've got to let go of the fetish for "toughness".

6. Poverty is not the only factor in crime
sure it is a contributing factor, but not all people in poverty are criminals, try to avoid group think.

7. Well, most Democrats would not talk about poverty anyway.
All they can talk about is the middle class.

So, good for Biden to talk about that.

8. He wasn't talking about poverty per se. He was talking about a lack of police.
