Seriously. At first we thought Mashable had been taken in by an article from The Onion, but this is really happening.

Today MC Hammer introduced his new search engine, called WIREDoo, at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco. The search engine will provide things that Google doesn’t, including what Hammer calls “deep search.” And we don’t know what that is, but it sounds hot.

The BrainYard reports from the Summit:

Hammer, cognizant of the presence of Google co-founder Sergay Brin in the audience, said that the technology isn’t meant to replace existing search, but to add value. Specifically, search queries add the notion of data relationships to results. For example a search of the word “car” might also come with the relationships to insurance, cost, specs, mileage, and who the driver will be. A search for “home” might also include relationships to community, schools, financing, insurance and so on.

Now if Salt-N-Pepa would just launch a social networking site, my week would be complete.

11. The market is a big saturated with search engines. I have trouble using anything other than...
google as much as I try.
When google recently started doing a number of things I didn't like such as sponsoring a retubby debate, I said I'm going to try to live without their search engine. I switched to bing. Except getting bing to be the default search in the browser on an Android smartphone is practically impossible and getting it to be an option in the firefox search requires downloading a separate extension. Not terribly difficult but there are a few extra steps.

There's a lot of search engines out there. They are by in large the same now, searching images and videos. Sometimes one won't find what I'm looking for and the other will. I wouldn't say that any one of the top search engines is better than the other at the moment. But getting users is going to be a huge hurdle for this wiredoo.
