1. "Slowly going under"...I think that describes a lot of situations with frightening clarity.
Thanks for the post.

What was the term Kissinger used? "the useless eaters"?

40. Wow, he actually said that?
Not that I'm surprised, having known since birth that I was pretty much a problem, but it still hurts a bit, even from that asshole. Still a part of the "system" paying into it. No wonder we see suicide so often nowadays.

41. Yeah, like when is the last time they rocked out by killing
A Khaddafi! And you can combine the military spending of like the next fifty countries, and it still doesn't meet our military spending.

Like we have to have priorities. And apparently being able to kill people and to have more military hardware must count for a lot, because it is the one thing that our nation always is superlative at accomplishing.

And it's not like those health programs mean all that much, unless you are sixty and need to use loans to buy your medicine. Or young and newly married with a baby whose health condition is "iffy." And your insurance would cover the baby's condition, if the treatment needed wasn't ruled "experimental.'

23. +1
No one should lose access to health care because they lose their job. If our for-profit, tied-to-employment health care system is so enviable, why is no other country trying to emulate it?

Too bad the insurance industry, the for-profit health care service providers and the pharmaceutical industry control the legislative process.

12. I understand completely. After four years of unemployment,
I will be moving out of my house that has just been sold by the bank out from under me, this is my last month of Internet, no phone, on food stamps but still must supplement with the food bank, lost my car and now will be moving in with my elderly mother and disabled veteran brother. What has happened to this country?

19. Capitalism has failed. Time to try a different system, one that
organizes the economy around people's need and not the parasites' greed.

We must not succumb to despair. We must be steadfast in our resolve, we must not waver in our conviction, we must show compassion to our enemies, but we must provide justice for our brothers and sisters. We must be willing to shed our blood, to die even, for this our sacred duty.

48. "Pure" capitalism will always fail in just this way.
That's why we regulate business (or we used to at least) and have socialistic, people-oriented elements like Social Security etc. It's called a mixed economy, and it's the only system that works.

25. Is he trying to prove he still belongs at Fox Business channel?
He was always telling people to get a "beater car" and deliver pizza in oder to make extra money for their family. He was too clueless to know there were NO jobs and people didn't have lots of extra cash to order pizza. Plus a "beater car" costs lots of money in repairs. Yeah, he's a great one for financial advice.

28. LOL--tell me about it, RE the beater. We drove our old truck into the ground, because
it was paid off (we'd bought it used), and at around 210,000 miles, the fuel pump quit while I was driving my kids to school. One second I was going forward at 35 mph, the next I was struggling to get it fully onto the shoulder. Nothing like a tow truck and $1200 at a pop (in addition to the new radiator and hoses we'd put in a couple months before) to help you save shitloads of money and become rich, LOL.

50. Also 60. Our nation is collapsing.
The Republicans (including Fox News) are nothing more than shills for the Kochs. The Democrats are not much better, frankly (wait until you see what the "supercommittee" has in store).

We're personally hanging in there, but one of us lost her job at 58, and I'm just a "reorganization" away.
