1. I wouldn't put Gaddafi in the same sentence as bin laden...
least we forget we were buddying up to this dictator until we realized we could get oil more easily by ousting him.

19. But we have an interest in this, too. If the EU countries didn't get their oil from Libya, then
they'd have to get it from someone. Oil companies aren't willing to share their supply.

22. That's not what the photo implies
There's also a 2009 photo of Khaddafi's son visting the White House.

I imagine the Khaddafi family refused to submit to American suggestions. Therefore they represented a threat.

The warning is there for everybody else, isn't it?

35. Well, we can't be expected to go on supporting
dictators who decide to keep some of the profits of their own oil.

We are not exactly choosy about our friends, so long as we win the oil wars.

You are trying to make a point, which I understand, but it seems the Left has now adapted the position of the Right, that if their team does something, it's okay. No matter how similar it may be to what they once opposed.

He wants justice - not vengeance. I think he's seen enough violence - I also think he is grateful for NATO saving the Libyan Revolution as are most Libyans.

"I couldn't believe they could let this go on," he said. "What has happened deserves a full inquiry."

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/sep/05/abdul-hakim-belhaj-libya-mi6-torture

Mr Belhaj told the BBC: "What happened to me and my family is illegal. It deserves an apology. And for what happened to me when I was captured and tortured.

"For all these illegal things, starting with the information given to Libyan security, the interrogation in Bangkok."

10. There sure were some long, long faces on Fucked-up News today
Although I seldom can stand more than a few seconds of Fox at a time, I made a special exception to watch them this morning to see how they'd react. There were virtually no happy faces among the news readers and commentators. Their guests roundly criticized Obama for spending $1.1 billion in the Libyan campaign and also criticized him for taking too long on this campaign. I recall earlier when the Libyan uprising began that instead they were warning Obama that the campaign would probably last for years. There were virtually no individuals praising Obama for his role in the Libyan uprising and every time the fact that a U.S. drone aircraft led to the disruption of Khaddy's caravan was brought up, Fox made of point of saying that it was the rebels who actually pulled the trigger.

The sad faces on Fox really made my day.

36. That's Cool...but when you wake up tomorrow morning...what does it mean to Your OWN LIFE?
Is the Ghadaffi Killing and Faux News being so upset that Obama might get a bounce going to really help YOU, your Family or your LIFE going forward?

What has the Ghadaffi Killing contributed to your Own Life and your future and the future of your Family and everyone you know going forward?

How big a deal is it? Please respond so I understand why you care more about what Faux News thinks than what YOU THINK about the Ghadaffi killing and how it relates to both you and your family and friends going forward in the American Economy of the Future.

28. You're turning it into a Democrat v. Republican proposition that simply isn't warranted.
For that matter, how many dictators does the US still currently support across the world? I'm sure the thugs in Beijing love continuing to enjoy good business relations with the US, while it systemically crushes those who challenge their power. Let's also ignore the fact that the US was thawing relations with Gaddhafi in the final decade before we suddenly turned against him when the rebellion began.

Not sure who "we" is, but lest we forget while patting ourselves on the back, shouldn't the same "we" be included in the failure to 'get' bin Laden and Gaddafi?
