1. No opinions? It's about the same situation.

10. No, it's not the same situation.
Mussolini and his entourage were captured while trying to leave the country and were detained overnight by Italian partisans. Those partisans made several attempts to deliver him to higher authorities in Como (the nearest major city), but couldn't get through because of the heavy fighting. The next morning the commander of the partisan group then contacted the de facto free leadership of Italy and requested directions. The government met briefly and decided that it was better to execute him than to risk him falling back into Fascist hands. They relayed that order to the commander, who oversaw the formal execution of Mussolini along with his girlfriend and a bunch of fascists who were caught along with him. They did the best they could in a warzone.

Gaddafi was beaten by a mob and shot in the head by "soldiers" in the "army" that controlled the entire country. There wasn't a thing stopping them from dragging his sorry ass back to Tripoli for trial. Well, nothing except the fact that they decided to act like a bunch of animals.

2. Oh, he'd be dead by now anyway.
I'm a history teacher and I still can't see the relevance (at least not beyond the superficial parallels).

4. He wasn't dead at the time they caught him. Makes no
difference if he'd be dead by now. Sometimes the mob rules and nasty things happen to dictators.

6. Nothing bad about that option.
And maybe if he would have applied it himself... maybe he would have had a better chance of having it applied to himself, but he probably never gave it any serious thought.

7. wouldn't expect him to...

... nor do I think expect those emotionally tied to Khadafi's execution to even want to consider the possibility of such a thing.

5. If no one cares that he was killed, does it matter? I mean, Mussolini? Really?
Libyan dictator. There are so many other things in life which deserve indignation. Who has the strength?

8. Purists have the strength.
But never 'go' anywhere (in reality).

Just an observation.

9. I didn't lose any sleep over Saddam, either.
Nor will I over Mo Qaddafi. And I wasn't around for Mussolini, but I'm told he got what he deserved.

Sic semper tyrannis.
