The 1% Are Changing The Law To Shut Down Occupy Wall St.
http://www.addictinginfo.org/2011/10/20/the-1-are-changing-the-law-to-shut-down-occupy-wall-st/

In a move that really shouldn’t surprise me in the slightest yet still does, the 1% landlords/masters of the universe have announced that they are seeking to change the law so privately owned public parks, like, for instance, Zuccotti Park, are no longer required to saty open 24 hours a day.

Shockingly, this would have the immediate effect of terminating any and all Occupy camps. In a jaw-dropping statement that redefines the word disingenuous, Steven Spinola, president of the Real Estate Board of New York had this to say:

“We’re going to be clearly recommending to the city that there need to be some changes… If you can say that the plazas are closed between 1 and 5 a.m., I’m not sure who that’s harming.”

The fact that parks like Zuccotti are open 24 hours a day is an oversight in the original intent of the law which was a trade-off between the city and realtors. We got parks and they got the ability to build higher than the zoning laws allowed. No one thought that it would become a battleground for the First Amendment.

1. I doubt that will make al those occupiers just go home!
NY has a lot of parks, and lther places where people can assemble. Yea, I realize the cops will be after them, but someone said the opther day, "Everyone should just say fine arrest me" and see just how the cops handle it trying to arrest several thousand people, and of course then they ALL will demand a jury trial! What will fail first? The jail, the courts, or will the cops give in?

3. The 1% just like to make up laws as they go along
By the 1%, I mean those hostile to the 99%. They think they're not only above the law, but also that their whims are law--especially the Kochroach Bros. and Gloomberg.

Tell Bloomberg to go back to Boston so I can go back to New York.

4. Can any NYC peeps shed light on the local government
I mean, other than Bloomberg, what extent does he influence the city council, what way they might lean on this, etc?

Is city council totally in bed with developers or might they have some independent thought on this?

6. Now, that's just too bad... this already was ruled under a zoning hearing...
Somebody take this one one, please because you can't just change this ruling.

That's a scare tactic and it will fail.

9. Well, it's not really much of a protest, generically speaking,
unless there's some good ole civil disobedience goin' on. Such a law would just make it easier for those who want to partake.

Bring it on!
