Kathy Bates: I Want Obama 'To Stand Up on His Hind Legs and Fight These Rat Bastards'
KATHY BATES: Well, you know, I have to kind of go back and say that I -- I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. I grew up in a segregated town. When I went back my first year in college, that spring, I had my first black friend. I wanted to bring her home. And my father said, "Are you crazy? You want to start a race riot?"

And I was like -- I didn't understand it because my parents were from another generation. My dad was born in 1900, my mom in 1907. I came very late in life to them. Long story short, that was the spring that Martin Luther King was slaughtered in my hometown.

Fast forward now to, what is it three -- two years ago, I'm in Paris, I'm on my computer watching these election results, because I've gotten so inspired by this man -- and I'm so apolitical. And for the first time in I don't know how many years, I was just galvanized by this election. It was so emotional to me.

The last two years, I want to go back, something my father said to me -- he always said, "Stand up on your hind legs and fight." And that's what I'd like to say to my president, whom I'm so proud of. But I want him to stand up on his hind legs and fight these rat bastards. And he has got do it.

She has just raised the bar a notch higher.
She is now in a class by herself.

I love her!

Fried Green Tomatoes and Misery and Dolores Claiborne showed her enormous acting range. When she's in any scene she always dominates it.

18. Dolores Claiborne. That's my favorite.
Thrilled to read her comments. I was apolitical most of my life, too.

Go Kathy! What a woman.

9. When the show went to commercial it was said
that Kathy Bates had something to say about the president. All I could think is PLEASE don't let her turn out to be a right wing nut. I love Bates and love her show Harry's Law. I was so relieved when she said what she did. I wouldn't have enjoyed Harry's Law half as much if she had turned out to be a right winger.

14. That is all I have been begging for.
I would rather FIGHT and Lose,
than to preemptively quit because
"We might not have enough votes."

America LOVES Fighters,
especially Underdog, Working Class FIGHTERS.
America HATES Appeasers.

Make "the rat bastards" stand up and publicly vote AGAINST the 99%,
in simple, Single Issue, easy to understand bills,
then take your case to the American People.

Obama had an ARMY Standing in the Streets on January 20, 2009.

If Obama ever decided to Fight the Rat Bastards,
this ARMY would have his back.
I would be with them.

Sadly, The Army is marching without him at OWS.
It may be too late.
He "coulda been a contender" .

You will know them by their WORKS,
not by their excuses.

Solidarity99!

20. Statements like this only help Obama...
I felt the same way that Kathy Bates did the night when Obama won the election.
My husband and I both cried. We were elated and relieved that we had a President
who just might not tolerate the corporate takeover of our government and be the
adult in the room who would not stay silent about the corruption.

Needless to say, I've been grossly disappointed.

I think Obama is fighting forces that have engulfed our entire nation--a power structure
that was pretty much put in place and fully entrenched before he spent one day in
the White House.

He needs more people speaking out and letting him know that he NEEDS to fight these
people--and that "We The People" will back him. He can't do this by himself. I
think these corporate Fasicst thugs are so powerful by now--that the Presidency
is irrelevant.

I hope OWS is the catalyst that breaks the organized criminals who are destroying
this country--and the world.

22. Bates is proud of Obama, you're disappointed in him...and don't include congress in your narrative..
...that's what I'm disappointed in most critics on the left.

Not that Obama has been perfect but it should be mentioned that the 200 pound duffel bag should be taken off his pack to run this race any where near fair
