Lech Walesa, What do you Have Against Unions and the U S Marines?
Edited on Sun Oct-23-11 10:30 AM by Kurovski
While I'm no fan of Mr. Walesa, Those who were happy to see him join up with the #OWS movement might want to ask him a few questions now that he's apparently backed out of appearing. He was reportedly told by Illinois politician Adam Andrzejewski that the OWS movement was run by Marxists. In 2010 Walesa came to Illinois to stump for Andrzejewski's gubernatorial primary run. He also spoke at a Chicago Tea Party rally while in town.

So now the movement might want to inform Walesa of the broad range of Americans who have joined and support OWS. Teachers, firefighters, emergency responders, the broad range of all unions...except for the construction trades...that support OWS. He might also be informed of support from members of our military and the financially disenfranchised.

Then the question must be put to him: Mr. Walesa, what is it about all these Americans whom represent 99% of us, do you find so objectionable that you would turn your back on them?

1. Disappointing
But it's his loss. OWS does not require his support, and if that's how he really feels, then he should stay away.

5. I agree. And I disagree with many of Walesa's views.
I just want to make clear the possibility of a seemingly hypocritical action on Walesa's part. He should also be fully informed of the entire situation. I'm surprised that he hadn't previously vetted all this, which causes me to question his change of heart now. He has apparently been prompted by someone who he came to the US to campaign for.

The behavior of the Koch brothers and Wisconsin's Walker is foremost in my mind here as a possible analogy one might make. Don't really have all the facts yet.

Ignore, for my own tracking: Lech Walesa won't attend OWS. Lech Walesa won't attend OWS.
Lech Walesa won't attend OWS

2. It sounds like he's bought into a lie.
I don't know the whole story but, from what you say, it sounds like he's bought into the lie that it's a Marxist movement. Somebody needs to dissuade him of this misconception.

is just plain not paying attention. Jeez! Any self starter can find the information on the internet. That's how every one of us do it.

If he doesn't know what OWS stands for it's his fault.

4. Good. He's a horrible #POS.
Who cares what he thinks of it. He's buddy-buddy with the people who made the 1% possible.

6. I'm in agreement.

There are right-wing attacks out there on people who were pleased to see Mr. Walesa participate in #OWS, and I personally see the possibility of them having been "set-up".

They can have an honest and dignified out in this matter. They and the movement are my main concern. you may have seen my previous mention of my extreme distaste for Mr. Walesa.

7. He ain't all that bright
So he got to be famous by defying authority in Gdansk and being the face of Solidarity. All he knew was that Communism didn't deliver the goods in post-war Poland and the West was doing better. So he agitated. Raised a stink like obstinate Polaks can do when a foreign imposed system is dropped on them. (But not the Catholic Church, that system headquartered in Rome, they LOVE that system.) He managed to be in front when the system collapsed and they put him in as President. So like a dog chasing a car that had rolled to a stop, now he had to actually DO something with it.

Again, not being too bright, he just said "we'll take a super duper size serving of free market capitalism", just as Jeffrey Sachs had advised. They threw out the whole Communist bathtub, water, soap, washcloth, baby, squeaky toys and all, bought a new Capitalist bathtub on credit and then waited for all that wonderful Capitalist water to fill it up. But they didn't have any money to buy Capitalist water.....or Capitalist soap.....or Capitalist squeaky toys, never mind what happened to the baby.

So after 5 years of Lech stumbling around, in way over his head as President, Poles wised up and picked a socialist, former-Communist atheist to put things back together, which he did. Today, the living standard in Poland keeps going up as the living standard for the 99% of Americans slowly declines. You'll be able to tell when they cross by the net flow of immigrants.

"Lech is a big vodka bottle full of stupid.

The lumbering idiot didn't even care that Reagan told unions to fuck off."

...the movement he headed was both a popular uprising, and shot through with nationalism, and no friend of diversity, religious or otherwise, with (some) liberty, and (mainly economic) justice (for many, but not) all.

19. Union support of ows...
http://www.workers.org/2011/us/unions_1027/

"Almost every major national labor union — except in the construction trades — and the AFL-CIO have endorsed Occupy Wall Street. But more important is that in major cities they have offered significant organizational, financial and political support to this movement.

New York City, where OWS was started more than a month ago, is not only the financial capital of the world’s dominant economic power, but is also the U.S. city with the largest percentage of unionized workers. From the response of union members, it is clear that this call has broad support."

...The trolletariat are out and about, so i thought I'd post this. --K
