Sen. Hedlund proposes the return of Happy Hour
Sen. Hedlund proposes the return of Happy Hour

Pembroke —

This past Tuesday, State Sen. Robert Hedlund, R-Weymouth, sponsored a casino bill amendment that proposed if Massachusetts casinos are allowed to offer free drinks, restaurants across the state should have the option as well.

The casino bill, passed by the Senate last week, has now moved on to a committee to iron out the differences between the Senate and the House versions.

Over the weekend, Hedlund told listeners to his radio show on WATD that he believes “the state should allow for existing businesses to compete on a level playing field with the casinos that are coming in.”

As part of the Massachusetts Senate’s proposed casino plan, these new licenses could allow casinos and restaurants to give free drinks to customers as part of promotions, to provide drink specials that vary by night and to allow for other drink deals that are currently banned under state law.

Wonder how much he gets in his campaign coffers from taverners across the state?
