Justice for Casey Sheehan and Hundreds of Thousands of Others
by Cindy Sheehan

It was with great sorrow and fear that my family watched the insane and inexplicable rush of our nation to invade two countries that had absolutely nothing to do with the events on September 11, 2001.

snip

Well, one president, thousands of American deaths, over a million Iraqi deaths, and almost nine years later, Barack Obama has announced that all US troops would be leaving Iraq by the end of this year. I'd like to remind everyone that Barack Obama stated that ending the war in Iraq would be the "first thing" he did as President--and we could even "take it to the bank," (probably one of the failed ones) and that this withdrawal is something Bush-Maliki scheduled back at the end of 2008.

I would like to send my deepest apologies to the people of Iraq for what my country has done there, but also my congratulations (no matter how reserved) because this is something that the people of Iraq have been fighting for and I am happy for them that US troops finally will be vacating their country.

However, did Obama just forget about the heavily fortified 104 acre US Embassy in Baghdad that employs 3000, or the enormous US consulates in Basra and Erbil, that will eventually employ about another 3000 people--or the thousands of paid mercenaries that will remain after the end of this year?

6. You did make a comment.
Our country is still grieving ... and will grieve for decades to come ...along with the victims of Iraq.
The scars of the bloodbath will linger for generations.

peace~

8. No, I did not.
It was a no comment. In other words, to help you out, I made no commentary on her comments.

Hope that clears things up for you.

9. I will make a comment.
A no comment is no comment.

It is a nonentity.

You stated that she was a grieving mother = comment.
You also stated that you made no commentary on her comments = comment.
When I don't comment in a thread, I type nothing.

My heart goes out to her and all who will continue to grieve until their dying days.

Thank you for your help....and your comments.

peace~

3. Is it 100,000 most-handsomely-paid mercenaries who will earn their private employers
gazillions of dollars per year in perpetuity? :patriot:

reminded Americans of the powerful presence left behind for the "US-liberated" Iraqi people.

Her answer to the question was her Senate vote to authorize military action in Iraq is telling: "I honestly don't think this is a time to be looking back. I will leave it to history to debate and argue over the merits and demerits of what the United States did over the last decade."

In other words, no accountability for an illegal war, torture, looting, missing billions - move along, folks, nothing to see here.

Except for the 4,478 dead Americans, 33,169 wounded (official number), 320,000 veterans with brain injuries, 318 coalition troops dead, 1,487 contractor employees dead, 348 journalists dead, over 1,000,000 Iraqi people dead (from conservative estimates by The Lancet, a medical journal that's kept records, $804 billion spent by the mic, at least $18 billion "missing," prisoners still held without charges....no looking back...

7. We're never supposed to look back, nor hold accountable those that lied us into these wars.

I strongly disagree, Madame Secretary!

5. Well, gee. I count TWO presidents, but that's just me.
One selected, the other elected. One got us in, the other got us out.

For some, the glass is always half empty and life will always suck, and everything is always negative and BAD. Especially American stuff--that's particularly BAD (except to people who will crawl through fire to live here, but never mind them--silly fools, to leave their oppressive paradise-dictatorships to live in this shitty awful land!!!).

But whatever. Do I need the dripping red tag? :sarcasm:
