(10-23) 19:22 PDT SAN LEANDRO --

Investigators were trying to figure out Sunday why the driver of a paratransit van, who according to his company had no criminal record, allegedly ran over and killed a member of the Hells Angels before dragging his chopper for a mile.

Eddie Hall, 31, of Oakland was booked on suspicion of murder and felony hit-and-run after Saturday's grisly collision, which left bits and pieces of motorcycle strewn across the eastbound lanes of Interstate 580 in San Leandro, forcing the temporary closure of the freeway.

"It appeared to be intentional on the van driver's part, based on physical evidence at the scene and witness accounts," San Leandro police Lt. Greg Lemmon said Sunday.

"There is no motive established. We don't know for sure why the driver chose to take the action that he did. It is extremely odd. In my 25 years, I have never seen anything like this."

Last night at 8PM during a Two and a Half Men rerun, the local Bay Area CBS station had a breaking news crawl about I-580 being closed due to a murder investigation. I later realized it involved a Hells Angel member. Another active local Hells Angel murder case is ongoing regarding the death of one motorcycle gang member in San Jose.

1. Ugh.
That's so ugly. I heard a little about it on NPR news. It's so disturbing. What in the world was that about?

5. maybe it was personal or when you see those assholes on the road, it doesn't take much
imagination to see how easy it would be to off one with the slightest twitch of a steering wheel.

6. a friend of mine had a nice encounter with some--seriously
She and a friend of hers had stopped by the side of a Texas road to take pictures. A couple of Hell's Angels drove by on their motorcycles, then turned to circle back. This is the point at which I would have peed myself... but they came back to ask whether they needed help and to make sure they were okay.

7. Are they sure they were Hells Angels?

Last I knew, Texas was off limits to them, that's Bandido and Outlaw territory. I read a story about an Angel who was trying to start a chapter in San Antonio and he wound up getting hauled out feet first :scared:
