GOP inaction stalls job creation

Oct. 23, 2011

<snip>Last week, Republicans torpedoed a scaled-down jobs measure designed to boost hiring of teachers and first responders; the jobs of both have been on the chopping block nationwide, throwing new hurdles in the way of recovery. The $35 billion measure included $30 billion for state and local governments to hire teachers and other education workers and $5 billion for police, firefighters and other first responders. snip

"For the second time in two weeks, every single Republican in the United States Senate has chosen to obstruct a bill that would create jobs and get our economy going again," Obama said following Thursday's nonaction. "Every American deserves an explanation as to why Republicans refuse to step up to the plate and do what's necessary to create jobs and grow the economy right now."

The explanation from Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., minority leader of the do-nothing GOP caucus: "The fact is we're not going to get this economy going again by growing the government. It's the private sector that's ultimately going to drive this recovery."

How again is that working for us?

1. We need ot stop with the band-aids
Sending $30 billion from the federal government to the states is nothing more than a temporary bandaid for the next year (conveniently enough there is an election). This $30B is not designed to stabilize our economy, it's designed to put a groups of people back to work for 1 year so they will be employed during the 2012 election. Are we going to do this every year now? We need to get back to stable spending done by the governments who have the responsibility to do so.

Stop with these campaign bills and write a bill to get people back to work permanently, not to keep 1 job for an extra 4 years.

9. I have two unemployed daughters

When someone is drowning they will grab any orange crate that floats by. I know I did when I was one of the long-term unemployed. I didn't care if the job was temporary or permanent. I just wanted any job. I had a family to support.

2. Yes, but we got the 3 free trade agreements through and we are about to give a tax holiday or
amnesty to corporate tax cheats.

It's as if it's business as usual for President Obama as the US disintegrates into a government so full of corruption that the Roman Emperor Caligula would have envied it.

3. It will continue to be thus...
so long as they are permitted to get away with it. They have to be hammered daily by the Democrats in the media. And the media needs to do more to explain what they are doing.

4. Make them do this every week until the 2012 election, and they will all be gone afterwards
Hang this economy on their Bush-lovin' red necks!

7. We need to also keep OUR house in order
Two Dems (Nelson and Pryor) and one Ind (Joe L.) voted with the Repubs. The vote was 50-50.

There are too many clay footed Dems that will got into "CYA" mode even if you can get the 7 Repubs to cross the aisle.

10. All the unemployed Republicans cheer them on with pride.
And blame Obama for their unemployment.

How can so many people become so mind bogglingly insane?
Something is really wrong.
