1. Because their almighty God couldn't do this himself if he wanted to.
Almighty, but seemingly completely unable to act
on his own.

5. Why is it an issue?
Several states have SCV aka Sons of Confederate Veterans license plates. I'm in Virginia and we've had it for years. I've not seen the God plates, I don't think I'd get one even though I'm Christian, but I don't have a problem with it. You can put football teams, fraternities, hobbies, charities, heritage, organizations on license plates, so why not who you are spiritually? The vehicle owner is paying for the privilege and it sure doesn't change my belief system. Let them have at it.

7. I agree. Unless.....
They also limit what can be put on it.

If they put the christian god on a license plate then they should not be allowed to say no to "one state under allah/the horned one/gaia/bob/etc."

As for the confederate flag, that one bothers me. It seems very close to espousing the violent overthrow of the democratically elected government.

14. God does not equal Christ
It says "One State Under God" and shows three Xtian crosses. Not all Texans are Xtian, you know. Ask Kinky Friedman.

15. Only in the US.
how many other countries would make a commemorative plate for traitors who wanted to bring down the country and killed a huge amount of it's own citizens?

6. God loves Treason.
The Confederacy was an act of Treason and for all these so called "Patriotic Americans" to want to support a Treasonous cause is very telling..Especially in the name of God...

8. One more reason that Thelma and Louise were avoiding Texas on their way to Mexico
As for me, I'd rather drive off the rim of the Grand Canyon than to ever again set foot in Texas.

9. "One State Under God" - why does that not surprise me?
Edited on Tue Oct-25-11 10:29 AM by iris27
Most fundie license plates from other states have the "one nation under God" phrasing from the 1954 modified pledge...but oh, no, not Texas...

It's a whole other mindset down here - most consider themselves Texans first and Americans second. I have yet, in the four months I've been here, to see a single American flag that wasn't accompanied by the Texas flag at the same height.

Blech.

12. You think a plate honoring the Christian socialist who wrote the original Pledge would go over well?
He was a Baptist, you know.
